Awesome. I actually dropped the truck off at Brent Brown in Provo per a recommendation of a friend. We'll see how they do. I unfortunately got my truck from Karl Malone. But I directed my brother to Brent Brown when he got his.

Nice, I haven't been there (yet). My truck also came from Karl Malone and I live just a couple miles from them, but go out of my way to get service done elsewhere. Hope it goes well at Brent Brown.

Good experience at Brent Brown. I liked their service. I'm not entirely sure they did the manual check on the fluid but the service guy said it was good and they made sure it was full. Very friendly and accommodating.

I am with ya. Karl Malone is by far the closest to where I live, but I will drive an extra 20-30 minutes out of my way to go else where. We bought my wife's Camry there and they were huge DICKS!!! If i every see their financing manager on the street, I will punch him square in his mouth...I bought my truck from Mark Miller and haven't had any complaints. I have had all my warranty and recall work done by them too.

The sales vultures that loiter in the parking lot at Karl Malone are the stuff nightmares are made of...

Indeed. And the negotiating I had to do with the sales personnel was intense. I could see some of his tactics from a mile away and he was very much..well...a vulture. I made sure I shut him down pretty quickly. Didn't like that guy.

You got to admit that it's been pretty cool to have that B-29 flying overhead up and down the Wasatch Front this weekend. I saw on the news that rides were $500. Did anyone do that? I kind of wish I made reservations and did it. Once in a lifetime opportunity.

Any interest in doing Elephant Hill and Beef Basin this weekend. Leave Thursday AM from SLC over night pass at Needles. Then head south Saturday after exploring more of the needles. Stay Friday night just outside the park to the south. Saturday explore Beef Basin and camp near Cathedral Butte. Depart for SLC Sunday. Would be open to other routes this is just an idea.

I thought it was Awesome watching it fly low over my house! Had no idea they were giving rides. I've seen it flying over the valley in years past, I wonder if it's an annual thing?

Anyone have an Autohome or similar hard shell roof top tent that they'd be willing to show off? Considering trading in the Tepui for something much quicker to setup and take down when leaving camp multiple times during a camping trip and budget isn't available for a trailer.

What is even more cool is that there are only 2 airworthy B29 in existence today. We got to see one of them. My dad was a pilot in the air force with the rank of major when I was a kid. I was born 58 years ago at an AFB hospital. At one time he was flying a C-97 cargo plane with the same 4 x 18-cyl engines as the B29. I was about 10 years old when he took me and his other co-pilot's kids up in the plane as it circled the valley during an air show. Those engines were so damn loud. I can't imagine what it would be like flying for hours during bombing raids. My dad finally had to go into radar since all those years of flying a C-119, C-97, and C-124 damaged his hearing. (BTW, he has flown that C-124 sitting in the front of the Hill AFB museum. I took him up there to see it before it got put on display). If my dad was still alive I would have forked out the money and taken him on the B29.

    Permits pending

this is the plan until my permit gets revoked and I have to scramble

    5-21-17
Drive from SOCAL to GC, enter north rim from Kaibab and camp at Kanab Point.
    5-22-17
Drive from Kanab Point to SB Point
    5-23-17
    SB point to Whitmore Point
    5-24-17
Drive from Whitmore to St. George, refuel, drive to Bryce canyon. Depending on time may make camp here, if not Camp at virgin river Zion
    5-25-17
Zion to Joshua tree and may camp there or drive to yuma

Anyone wanna join up? Any advice?

If you're planning on hiking down to the river at Whitmore (and you should, it's amazing!), then I'd consider more time there. If you just want to camp at the rim, your schedule is probably fine.

It's been years since I was there, but it isn't too difficult. Just elevation gain coming back up. If you make it there, it's totally worth it. Maybe an hour or so to get down to the water, and then you get to experience the Canyon from that perspective.

Isn't that the truth. Woke up to snow, now it's all melted, and it's supposed to be 80 on Saturday.
