The folks around here will tell you it's a "dry heat" (IMHO hot is hot, but 80's here is nothing like 80's in Texas) I had a girlfriend that came from the east coast and when we went to visit my parents she asked why everyone had a box on their roof. I explained that they were swamp coolers, water is dripped over pads and air is blown through them to cool the house. She got pissed at me because "everyone" knows that you have to remove water to cool the air. She absolutely would not believe me until I made her stand under the swamp cooler's blower.

We also get a "dry" cold, which IMO isn't as cold as someplace like New York. But, when you heat that dry air the indoor humidity will get down to single digits.

The heat is more bearable here than other places, but hot is hot. I grew up in Texas before moving to Utah and can handle more heat here than in Texas but it still can get hot. I'm just not sweating as much and as fast.

    Hey guys,
So I just landed a job in Salt Lake City and will start mid-next week, I'll be working on the Bangerter Hwy.
Anybody can recommend an area to rent close to Bangerter, we have a big dog so no apartment for us.
    Thanks

    Cool, welcome to town!
Bangerter runs about 25 miles through the valley. Do you know which part you'll be working on?

If I dared venture a guess, I would guess he's going to start on the 54th overpass they are about to start. But with as many projects they have planned who knows

You best bet is to try to snag a house that is for rent. There are probably several on the west side of Bangerter at 7000 S.

IMO the further south and west that you go the better the neighborhoods in my opinion. There are some of the dicey areas in Kerns, Magna, and West Valley. But, not every neighborhood in those cities is bad, so it's more of a guideline than a rule. :) As for kids out by Bangerter you'll find two school districts, Granite in the north and Jordan in the south. I like Granite School District better than Jordan, but truth be told it's more about getting a good teacher than the district. 70th and 90th south are in the Jordan district, so if you like a short commute there are all kinds of neighborhoods in that area.

Thanks for the info! Glad there's no neighborhoods to avoid like here in Tucson or Phoenix. I'll start looking into that area.

New to this forum. Been in SLC, UT my entire life and just recently purchased my first truck (2017 Tacoma TRD O/R).

Right now I reside in Tville just east of 5400 S Bang Hwy. I also used to do automotive photography @ www.orlandoech.com

Yeah, I recall you mentioning that when speaking with you. I hope you didn't get up completely, you were good at what you did! Hopefully you shoot for fun still.

Dang! It was the area's premier rig shots. Any plans for the Tacoma?
