Good thing mine is just stock lol. My plans are simple though:

    - TRD Pro Grill
    - TRD Pro Wheels w/ new tires
    - BPF Skid Plate
    - Running Boards
    - Tonneau Cover
    - Black out Tacoma/V6 badges

Skip the running boards. Get sliders! They work as a step too but don't kill clearance (if you'll be climbing over stuff).

Mobtown usually has a weekend deal special on stuff. Keep an eye out. 2 weeks ago, it was free powdercoat on sliders, which basically offset shipping for me.

Yes, sorry. I should have explained better. I don't think there is thread for 3rd gens so that thread will at least show manufacturers that offer sliders that probably will offer them for a 3rd gen as well. They may also be the same between the two models, don't quote me on that. Those listed companies should give you a place to start.

I love my mobtown sliders, I had them built at a 0 degree angle instead of angled up and with fill plates so they look/work exactly like steps. They'll cost more than running boards but the extra protection from coming down on a rock and crushing the door panels is worth it. That said, if you never plan on taking it offroad then running boards would be fine.

Are the clearance on the NFABs really that much worse? I wont be extreme off-roading, just some off-road to go shooting type stuff.

Nice looks good. By your pic, looks like you live in a big house in South Jordan.

I may just have to pay once cry once for decent sliders instead of possibly regretting getting the NFABs.

You'll probably be fine with the NFABs then. Those type of bars hang down a fair amount more and if you were climbing over a rock or a tree stump and come down on them they will fold and bend quickly (I did this on the step that were on my truck when purchased). They aren't tied into anything that will allow them remain rigid. Just a few bolts. If you won't be climbing up steep hills, over rocks or tree stumps then just go with the steps.

Well I dont want to say never. Steep hills, somewhat for when I go shooting. Big rocks, trees, I dont think I will be.

Decisions to go poor, or go poorer.

You're probably fine with the NFABs for taking offroad tracks to go shooting.

The difference between most steps and sliders is that the steps are only bolted to the body, so if you come down on it hard enough it'll not only wreck the step but it'll dent your rocker panel too. Sliders are bolted or welded to the frame of the truck so they're much tougher.

It looks like those might still be attached to the body and not the frame, even though they call them sliders. Still probably a step up from the NFABs, but I wouldn't go lifting the truck by them.

They are the Avid Sliders (Bolt-on) and extremely sturdy according to the reviews on this forum. Overall I really like them and probably the best value over the NFAB. I would prefer not to lose clearance even if I am not doing crazy off road stuff. These I think will work perfectly.
