That's awesome. Planning on around the 2nd weekend in September so it's not too hot or cold!

Look into taking Highway 12 over Devils Backbone into Torrey From Escalante. Gorgeous country and Torrey is just outside Capital Reef National Park.(5 min) Lots of trails and hikes along the way if you have time. You won’t regret it!

After Zion head up to highway 12 for sure head east! Bryce Canyon cool if you haven’t seen it very touristy, then Kodachrome canyon super rad!! Escalante for sure devils back bone is awesome! Hole in the rock road is super fun to if you go down this road at least make it to the get out there hike around north of it. it’s amazing!! If you go to the end of this road you’ll end up at Lake Powell ther is no outlet on this road. Head out make your way to Moab on the way hit up Goblin Valley it’s bad ass as well. Can’t go wrong on highway 12!!05FCADA8-92D3-4538-9637-32D4CB81B045.jpgBryce Canyon 704321E1-7B92-4145-966B-CCE4DD4BB4E5.jpgKodachrome 4AF34E10-8F84-44DC-A460-9F5C9EC8E5AF.jpg Devils Backbone D40236CB-29F6-4F21-A675-320B390B0E9F.jpg BD5D259F-EC30-4BCE-ACA5-B22C11C50B2E.jpg Hole in the Rock road amphitheater CAE9C052-7DE0-4960-B2BC-CA6A304FF1FB.jpg Goblin Valley CB00883E-25BB-4B16-833F-2937B0CD609A.jpgMoab. Back in the day you could drive over this arch !! Sketchy!! I was fortunate to drive over in my 20s before they band it. There are plenty more places to explore each place is usually a day to a 1/2 day trip!

Thank you guys for all the great info! I'll look into highway 12 for a couple stops on the way back up towards Moab!! Now to plan some great camping spots on the route!

How is camping regulated out that way? Say if i want to camp outside of the grand canyon or bryce canyon ( non campground just RTT). Do i need to get permits or what do i need to look for on my trip. I know its a lot different than camping most places on the East Coast.

Hey Guys, I'm going to spend about 5 weeks in the Culver City area this May and June. I am wanting to do some off roading in my free time. Do any of you have suggestions on where to wheel? I have heard a little about wheeling in Moab, but I don't have a lot of information on it.

    Not much stock left.
If you Google off roading in Moab, you will get all kinds of deets. Fins & Things and Hell’s Revenge are good, but I wouldn’t recommend for a stock truck.

+1. Take off your mud flaps and get a good spotter, you'll *probably* be fine.

There are so many places to explore in Southern Utah. Especially, in the Moab area. Most places you can do in a stock 4X4 just fine, as a few mentioned above. If you want a mellow drive, the Schafer Canyon Road is pretty cool. I’m looking to do Top of the World in the spring, and Poison Spider.

I can’t think of other names, if they come to me, then I will post them. There are others on here that can probably pull the names off the top of their head.

Yeah the trails we did were no joke tough, but I know that area has trails for most difficulties. Next time I'm there we are gonna get some redemption on Double Sammy and probably try to hit up an easier but still very scenic trail

How is camping regulated out there? If I can from like Page, AZ East towards the grand canyon, can I camp with my RTT out in the middle of nowhere next to the canyon. Do I I need to buy a permit? Any info would help since I'm sure it's different than the East Coast.

Do you have a permit for the wave? It isn't something that you can just go see. If you don't, check out Vermillion cliffs "white pocket". It is further down that same road, and leads to some almost equally as cool spots. Its also a condor rehab area, so they may be soaring around. Buckskin Gulch is there on the same road as well (and I think shares the Wave TH). You can day hike it, but cant overnight without a permit

If you do want to go check out Kodachrome and Bryce, you could go up cottonwood road that is not far from where house rock road (the wave TH road) meets the pavement in Utah, see those, and then drop down to Zion.

Lone Rock Campground is a cool beach camping spot near Page, AZ.

    not enough.
Depends on the area. GENERALLY speaking, you can camp anywhere on BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land. (there are exceptions). But they're not as maintained.

National Forest land, varies. Some you can camp anywhere, some, you can't do a single bit of camping.

If you're in National Parks area. You are not allowed to camp just anywhere without permits. Generally speaking, you need to go find a campsite.

If you want "Developed" campgrounds with designated campsites, you can pay on the spot at first-come-first-serve (cash only) or you can reserve spots in certain campgrounds (https://www.recreation.gov/unifSearch.do)

Anyone can correct me if I'm completely wrong. :/
