If he likes it, all the power to him...but looks like a truck that would be a prime fit for the Wasatch Tacomas facebook crew

In his defense (sort of), he bought the truck as is, so it was another Bro's build. I'd be willing to bet he doesn't really know what all he has and what the parameters are. It's got a wicked King suspension.

I'm not jealous of his truck. I like mine and at full build out it will be much more suited to what I want to do and where I want to go. I am envious of his 4Runner as my wife has an older one in need of replacement as it's at 300K miles and getting kind of creaky. That said we have the means to replace it but getting her motivated to work past her attachment to the old one is the challenge.

I will say this. I have a couple middle managers that supervise this kid day to day and I've had to intervene on his behalf because they do in fact treat him differently because of his situation. They ride his butt over issues that they let guys of lesser economic standing get away with. Jealousy I'm sure comes into play. He didn't choose his lot in life and he's a quiet, dependable good worker. To hold him to different standards because "Daddy bought his truck for him" isn't fair.

So I am going to be in Moab 4/20-22 for a mountain biking group ride (20ish people).

I was planning on finding a spot up by the Klondike Bluffs / Alaska riding trails on the north end. Anybody have other recommendations?

Not all of us are going to be in 1 spot it sounds like, but we may have some company, so I don't want to give away any secret spots to the average tourist either.

Oh you'll have some company alright this time of the year in Moab. Where to camp sort of depends on where you want to ride and just how much company you would tolerate. The further you are willing to drive to bike the better you can get away from the hoardes. If you are really arriving Friday 4/20 I'd say that any and all public campgrounds will already be full by then. I'll assume you will be totally self sufficient for back country car camping. There is good back country camping a ways out on the other side of Klondike Bluffs along BLM 145 (aka Salt Valley Rd). One thing to keep in mind is that it is almost always windy in southern Utah in the spring so one should look for camping in more sheltered spots. If it isn't too windy there is all sorts of dispersed camping up off Hwy 313 the road going to Islands in the sky and Dead Horse Point.

I meant company of our group more than the masses, but its gonna be busy yeah.

Looks like the primary spot is aimed at Willow Springs. We have an advance party going down Thursday so hopefully we can get a good spot. Klondike Bluffs is where I was planning as a backup since I know that tends to be more secluded since it is decently far out.

Yeah, the nice part of our lifestyles is that I can park the truck damn near anywhere and disappear for a weekend, no services required.

I knew what you meant, was just messing with you, and you're already ahead with the advanced party idea. That is almost a requirement to get something decent in that area or to get the spot you want. We avoid town at all costs unless we have to pass through to get to points south like we will in May. Have fun and watch out for those people with green license plates because the green stuff is legal where they come from!

I was just in Colorado last weekend...and Seattle's home for me. I'm familiar. Not my thing, but don't be an idiot (DUI, etc) and don't bother me and I couldn't be bothered by that stuff.

Yeah I have good friends in CO who also don't imbibe but on a country highway in WY were stopped for going 5mph over and the cops brought a dog out and ran him around the car three times. Seems a green plate is now probably cause?

Got stopped along the Oregon border in a U-Haul for the same reason. Apparently renting a truck and making a shipment from WA to CA isn't uncommon. Surprised I don't see more CO plates pulled over on I-70 just inside the UT line personally.

I'm going to be visiting Zion on the first weekend of June and was looking to do some mtn biking as well. Are there any places you would recommend for bike rentals and trails close to St George? Probably just around 2 hours of riding would be good enough. I would consider myself intermediate (I ride a Giant Trance 3 27.5), but will be bringing along a few beginners. A trail with good views would be nice. Thanks!

Red Rock Bicycle. Bear Claw Poppy and Gem Ive ridden. Listed as beginner (thats me). The staff at RRB is great and can direct you to trails more suited to your skills.

Over the Edge is a great shop.

Bear Claw Poppy is a good beginner line. If you feel like medium effort slickrock, Guacamole in Hurricane is a good one! Not for beginners, but easier than Gooseberry.

First week in June gonna be hot AF though...

That's already the top end of enjoyable for me...

I did my first backpacking trip to Southern Utah 2 summers ago in July...mistakes were made, heat stroke was very close to being realized.
