Understood, that's where I was with my first setup. The Demellos were a pain to bolt on but I did it myself ... though the bolt on option cost $200 more than the same sliders in weld on configuration.

Anyway, bolt ons are just as stout as weld ons, so you should be able to lift your truck from any point on the sliders. It comes in handy.

The first set I had I made and I welded on. After a couple of years I cut them off after beating them up and installed some bolt on ones. It was a major PITA cleaning the frame up to accept bolt on ones (I did a fantastic job welding them on.. haha) . I view sliders as a disposable item. Also, with that mindset, I would not waste extra money on DOM sliders. HREW is strong enough assuming the slider is designed correctly.

I plan on designing a bolt on set for our new 5th gen 4runner. I plan on making them bolt on.

    Just my $0.02.

If you had a "rock buggy" then a weld on slider would be more acceptable. Just depends on the application and if you plan on keeping your rig. If you plan on selling it, then bolt on for sure since you could recoup money.

My bolt ons have a plate that runs the length of the frame where the sliders would normally weld to. It not only is bolt on but it reinforces the frame through that whole section.

My latest from my RCI skids. Another cracked weld. The rest of my skids are all sorts of warped.

As for the topic of sliders; thickest walled tubing you can get and the strongest mounting with gussetting.

Stuff and things that make it better.
Rocky Road is local and they make bolt on's. Just do some research before buying, I know they had customer service issues a few years ago, dont know if it's still a problem.

Nah just some mild mall crawling. Yes. I beat the hell outta my truck. This was the freshly painted front skid after two trail runs over a weekend and Under 20 miles off-road.

Also notice the dent in the lower part of my bumper... that hit stopped the truck dead in its tracks.

I second Go-Ride. They know their shit especially when it comes to suspension. Only place I’ll take my bike after having been there. Quick, friendly, affordable. I go to the one in Sugarhouse though off 21st east

Those are now called Hangar 15. I think they got a nice payoff from Canyon Bikes to change their name when the brand came to the US...
