I applied for a permit to see the Wave in September, lets hope I randomly get drawn. Which is highly unlikely but oh well! lol.

If you come up short, White Pocket is just down that same road, and is pretty spectacular as well.

I second White Pocket. Road conditions keep out the rental cars/tourists for the most part, so theres fewer folks and its lesser known.

Is there any interest in a Taco campout in SW UT? Theres a nice group campground down here, its car-camping for sure, paved loop road, but its cheap enough! It would be less than $10/pp/per night. Actual amount determined by how many would attend.

Camping, fishing in the reservoir, hiking (trails go up to 10k feet), theres not a whole lot of off-road exploring to be done, but Im sure some could be found.

If theres enough interest, I'll put it together.

Pine Valley Rec Area. Its on the west slope of Pine Valley Mtn. Its nothing exotic or glamorous, just a shady getaway place.

I hiked buckskin wash a couple months ago - permits are easier to come by than the Wave. Different scenery but absolutely amazing.

DO NOT hike this in July like I did...big mistake. Makes for a great story of near heat stroke and dehydration, but type 2 fun for sure.

I'd agree with that! I did it in early March. Tons of exposure in some of the wider narrows. And then you'd be roasting hiking out along the Paria river

Will I be fine hiking around the area in early/mid Sept? What's the average temps? From what I've read/seen 80's-40's at night

Chime in with your preferred month,

    JULY
    AUGUST
    SEPTEMBER

need more than 3-4 people/families to get the group site. If it stays small, I’ll set a date and everyone can just reserve their own space.

I'll be driving that way from KY Sept 5th (leaving out) Through the 23rd. Takes awhile from KY, but i'll be stopping a few days in CO to look at some stuff. If you all would want to meet somewhere around say September 12-15ish or somewhere around that dates, I say that's about the time i'll be in Utah area. I would love to meet up and see whatever cool stuff I can see in the are with people that know the area. I'll be coming through Monument Valley towards the Grand Canyon in AZ, then up by the Wave to Zion, Over to Bryce, then taking Burr Trail Rd over to the Canyonlands, then on up to see Moab!

If @MedlinAround is here in Sept, that's my vote.

Only dates I can't do in September are the 15th and 16th.
