I made a video of the trip my wife and I took up Murdock Basin last month. I even let her behind the wheel so I could fly the drone! She didn't do too bad for her first time off-roading the Tacoma. They are pretty hard to kill in 4Lo though haha. I sure love it up there! https://youtu.be/HnnidBmshAs

Loved it man! Headed up into Grandaddy Basin backpacking this weekend. The Uintas are a part of my soul! So where is the turnoff to get to the lake you guys went to? What lake was that?

Can I get a PM too? Been spending a lot of time up there lately looking for good spots rather than hanging at good spots.

    Hey fellow Utahners,

Does anyone have a .GPX file of the hike to the top of Mount Timpanogos? A FREE link to a website that has it would work. I think we will be doing the Timpooneke trail but if you also have the Aspen Grove it would be appreciated. We are hiking this on Thursday so my funeral will be next week sometime.

    Edit: I found it on Peakbagger.com !

LOL. I heard that is a great hike, but long. Still have yet to do it and lived at its base 2 years now.

So happy! I just got a call. Hike is canceled because we got invited to play golf at a friend's father-in-law's country club. Good trade for a day in July! No funeral now.

Ha, congrats on the extension on life. I like the hike to the top of the Y mountain better, not nearly as many people and a gorgeous hike once you head south from the Y.

I accidentally rode my MTB down the Y mountain trail on a quiet Sunday once since it is only marked no bikes at the bottom. The words Steep and Loose come to mind.

 that trail up to the Y is the WORST -- full sun, caked mud, and nothing but steep switchbacks.

But if you keep going past it, it heads back through the valley to the south then up to the peak. Once you're off the face it's nice.

    not enough.
Too bad you're not going, it's a load of fun. Definitely pretty rough. I've never doen the aspen grove side. Just the timpooneke side. That said, if you're looking for a .gpx file to find the trail, you really don't need it. the path is very well defined. Hard to get lost. Just keep in mind that once you hit the ridge at the top, you've got scrambling to do to get to the peak. And again, it's pretty clear which way you have to go.

I will say that the parking lots get pretty full pretty quickly so you'll want to hit the parking lot pretty darn early. I know the rangers have been a bit more strict in issuing tickets as of late. here is the timpooneke parking lot: https://goo.gl/maps/iXg496JDHwN2

One thing to watch out for though is on your way down. The Aspen Grove and Timpooneke trails combine near the ridge and going back down, make sure you hit the correct trail, otherwise you'll be backtracking. It shouldn't be too difficult because the two trails come from two completely different sides of the basin/meadow.
As for time frame, last time I did it, it took quite some time. My group started at 430AM and didn't finish till about 5 PM. BUT, i had jacked up my ankle near the last basin and hobbled the rest of the way up and down AND we took a detour to emerald Lake. So it took even longer. Added about 8 miles total just on the detour but it was worth it to get more water. :/
