I'm mainly looking at ARB because I know their (non-elements) fridges will work exposed to the Utah elements, despite maybe not being designed to be. One friend of mine has had his in the travel cover in the open bed for 4 years straight (with rack and RTT though) and it still hums along happy as a clam.

So when do the 285s go on?

The Maxxs run big. most 265/75 are 31.5, these are a hair over 32. I'm set for anything I'll do in this thing. 285s are just overkill for me.

Trying to conserve as much fuel economy as I can for this trek in July. The fuel bill is already shocking.

    I'm stoked. It's just a shame I can only take 2.5-3 weeks. I could easily fill 6.

Can't personally attest to any of that since both of mine were inside all the time. But, my Indel-b i ran for at least a year straight, dometic was 4 months straight with only shutting them off if i was not using the truck while out of town a few times. They use the sane compressor as the arb. I'd check the group buy thread if you want to to see if anyone has long term reviews since the $400 or so you'll save would fill it with a ton of food and beer.

Looks good, July will be a good time, hopefully the wildfire season won't be as bad as it was last year.

I did June to November last year on that same basic route, 20k miles (my trek had a lot of loops going on), gas bill did suck ass. It was a good time for sure and itching to finish it. My plan was that and then to make it all the way to Baja. I was running 265/75 and 15mpg was average.

    Screenshot_2018-11-05-19-57-11~2.jpg
Along the northern stretch of the Dalton Highway.

One of the coolest things was almost being back to Colorado...20k miles later, stopping in SE Utah to camp and being just as thrilled there as I was the whole trip.

If you have any questions, lemme know. Overall...it's a lot easier trip than anyone makes it out to be.

Edit: that inspired me to find the track i did.

I cut back to CO from the middle coast of Oregon.

I think Noah was selling his not too long ago, but maybe I heard wrong. Have you asked on UTOR?

You bet. However the snow will shut that trail down before too long. Or just make it extra interesting.

I thought Noah just bought his relatively recently? Looked brand new at the tent unveiling grill-out-chill-out when he was walking me through the thing, letting me look in and around it. He made no mention of selling his, but did give me a few places to look.

Thanks for the stoke! And You're right; At first, it's made out and talked up to be super daunting and remote and desolate, and in some parts it is, but after doing a lot of research and picking up one of those Milepost books, you realize that it is pretty doable. Fuel resupply is the limiting factor in a few places, but we are factoring it in and having a pretty good excess in jerries just to take the anxiety away and enjoy the trip. Super stoked for a few ferry crossings, gonna camp at a remote cold war airbase for a night, soak in a hot spring or two, and take a (very short) swim in the Arctic Ocean if at all possible.

I also have a crazy strong desire to find a bitchin fur seal hat when we get to the Inuvik area.

Thanks for the kind words. It's been a constant work in progress, a money pit, and sometimes an unbearable pain in the ass to get it to where it is. But it has let me go some incredible places, and meet some equally incredible people.

One of the best trips I've had so far (and the basis for the Arctic trip planned) was back in early December when a few of us went down to Kanab area and had a turkey fry. Tim, the guy in the rubber gloves, had met a few of our group including @cwhet10 when they did a push through Canada and Tim and company were coming back from the Arctic Circle. While we were down in the red rocks, I picked Tim's brain for hours over his Arctic trip and the gears started turning. That same afternoon, a guy named Bud showed up in his 4runner and regailed us with stories of Baja which he travels to quite frequently.

Between those two, I had a plan to make a big push. When I changed jobs back in January, I negotiated hard for extra vacation, and I decided to say screw it, and just f'n do it! That was the day the Inuvik trip planning started.

A trip like this would be a blast. Once I get a little more vacation time I'd love to do up to Alaska. That's been my dream

Filled out. Hope the feedback helps. Not sure I'd get there with it being a heck of a drive, but if I'm in the area to go see the Grand Canyon or MTB in Sedona/Flagstaff, I might swing by! The history museum idea seemed like a neat concept.

Thanks Conner! The feedback for sure helps. Just trying to gather others' ideas and get feedback on our own ideas. If you come and do some mountain biking, let me know and I'll join in on that!
