Would anyone, anytime have any interest helping a guy replace his carrier bearing? I'm trying to be less reliant on shops, but I don't quite have the space, knowledge, or tools but am trying to get there.

Where you located? Not quite sure on the tools aspect, but I have beer and a big driveway in Sandy!

    Eyyy, a mountainbiker too?

I'm looking at the process of swapping it out and what I'll need. Seems straight forward but I usually complicate things

If this is the reason I need to go get an impact gun, then so be it... :spending:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-replacing-carrier-bearing.260283/

    Tools Required:
    -14mm wrench (x2)
-17mm wrench (I didn't, you may need it)
    -Torque wrench (capable of 51, 54, and 134 ft-lbs)
    -24mm socket
    -Impact wrench
    -Jack Stand
-14mm socket and ratchet (3/8" drive)
    -Bench vise
-PB Blaster or other loosening lubricant
    -Dead blow hammer
    -Flathead screwdriver (for staking nut)
    -Jaw puller

And yes, I have quite the stable going.

King shocks on a mountain bike would be sick if it hasn't been done :bananadance:

Lotta bikes have Fox shocks. A good few have Ohlins too, which if you know moto/racing shocks, are Swedish gold.

Fun fact: the bike on the right with the silver forks and my truck have the same amount of shock travel.

Bikes would be a sweet hobby to get into, but I think my wife would kill me if I added one more hobby :anonymous:

You'd be better off with a coke habit if you were looking to save some money.

You should just post your address and your schedule. Any chance we could fit a lift in that garage?

Ha. Not at this house we couldn't fit one. I looked at a different one (1225 Violet drive) that had a 2 story garage with 20+ foot vaulted ceilings. Easily could have fit 3 trucks in there on lifts. If the house wasn't not so great, I would have bought that one.

I didn’t suspect so, but thought I would ask. It could’ve become the local truck mod hang out, which is soooo much easier with a lift.

 Headed up from Az into the Zion area again from the 3rd-8th. Wife and I decided to hit up Zion and the surrounding areas again for our annual anniversary adventure. Thinking of scoping out Coral Pink on our way up from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, then up into Mt Carmel and around Zion. Maybe make our way up to the Kolob Reservior area, back down into Toquerville, and then head home.

If anyone is in the area or out adventuring over the holiday, maybe we'll see you on the road and trails!

I’d remove them yourself if you are worried about it. I have MM service my truck to keep warranty but I remove my RCI skid trilogy as needed before I take it in so I don’t end up with fluid puddles on it. Plus I’m a trust but verify (or distrust and verify) person so I get to mark bolts and check things out when I remove the skids and then inspect the work when I put them back on. So far MM has done a good job and always tightens things to spec, but they do tend to not wipe up excess fluids to my OCD levels. I get a chance to wipe it down one more time before I put the skids back on.

Also, in case anyone was wondering, Russ’s Alignment on Redwood is legit. They were able to get my 2” lifted Tacoma aligned and over 2 deg castor without aftermarket UCA’s, much better than MM did in 2 attempts. Goes to show the value of a specialist...
