Luckily I live in Orem so it's not a big deal for me. When I used to live with my parents in Layton my dad used to have season tickets and we would get home suuuuppper late. He stopped doing it because they play their home games so late now though. But it will be a good game for sure, both teams are projected to do well and the games are always close. I still haven't gotten over how the last game ended though... this gif comes to mind

OK. Revised plan. Meetup will now occur one week to the left, on Friday the 16th to allow some of us to race / staff the BOR race at Knolls the next weekend.

    @BOMBS @RyanL @Foozer @H3llRid3r @eltacoutah

Speaking of Knolls, I'm sure BOR could use the volunteers and you get to hang around cool desert race vehicles all day. Hit up me or @P.Blackley for more details and we can get you in touch with the volunteer coordinator.

Have any of you guys driven the entire Northwest Trail Expedition Route? I'm just wondering if any of you have how many popped across into Nevada to fill up on gas prior to finishing the route.

I'm thinking maybe a drive this weekend since I'm still recovering from my 10 mile rehab hike from last weekend. I think I might have been a bit overly ambitious/optimistic that my back and neck could handle that after my cervical strain broken vertebrae on Mother's Day.

You have a map of that route? I googled it and I got a few wildly different routes. Only one of which touched Nevada.

I planned on using the directions from https://www.visitutah.com/things-to-do/road-trips/undiscovered/northwest-railroad-trail/ and downloading a few different map layers to gaia gps. If I end up out that way I will record my route on gaia or at the very least try to take some detailed notes on what route I take.

I live up near Snowville so that will be my starting point off of I-84.

I saw there was a BLM guided trip of a similar route recently and it sounded pretty doable. A spare gas can is never a bad idea. I also heard that a full size spare on the railroad bed was a highly recommended thing due to the chance of a railroad spike or bed nails going through your tread and ruining your day.

I've got the full size spare and really need to get a decent gas can. All I have are the plastic cheapos for yard equipment. If you head out that way you definitely want to be prepared there is pretty much no cell reception on the entire route. So now the main thing I need to do is convince my wife that this is a good idea. I think at the moment she might be planning another hike, if we go that route at least it will be a bit shorter hike at only 6.5 miles.

Wavian Cans FTW. Or I thought i saw Kurt @cruiseroutfit was selling some Specter ones.

On the topic of remote comms, I found a Garmin Inreach for a song a little while ago, and I feel a little better going deep in the nothingness. Just have to activate the service. Sadly, all of these beacons are somw sort of monthly subscription. I don't want to pay $20 a month if I don't go anywhere remote for 4 months. I wish they had a "we don't charge you anything unless you hit the SOS button, then we charge you a decently high but one time use fee" kind of deal.

Of course a decent power HAM radio might get you out of a bind too.

That whole subscription thing is the only reason I haven't purchased an inreach mini. The unit itself cost enough but then you have the monthly fees if you actually plan on using it. We spend a fair amount of time hiking/backpacking in remote areas so the size of the inreach mini really appeals to me since I always have my phone anyway (gaia maps) and it syncs up with the phone and used the iridium network of the garmin.

I know there are some companies that rent out the inreach units but nothing anywhere near where I live and from what I can tell you rent a couple of times and you may as well just buy the thing.

I'll have to look into the cans you mentioned, this weekend it might just be the cheapo plastic can in the back of the truck.

Those cheapo cans have gotten many a person many a place. Don't fall for the "overland" fad. But a quality can is one of the first things I would spend money on for remote travel.

The main thing I don't like about my yard work gas cans is trying to keep them upright in the bed of the truck. I'm thinking I might get some kind of tote or box to put it in and then anchor the tote to the tie down points.

That would be a good idea.

3 wavian / spectre cans will fit lengthwise between the wheel wells in the bed/ 6 will fit skinny wise.

Nice looking set up. Also that floor jack mount is a great idea, I will have to see if that would fit with my softtopper frame.

I just put the gas can in the bed up against the cab, strap a bungee from one corner tie down, through the gas can handle, and into the next corner. It’ll bounce around but it stays upright.

@Gunshot-6A do you know of any places around Salt Lake City, or preferably North that carry those Wavian tanks or am I going to have to order online and have patience?
