I know! Just since last year I feel like it’s gotten a lot busier... have to keep going farther and farther down the roads to find spots.

I have found it is only worth going up that way outside of peak season now. Once school starts again, most areas empty out.

They destroyed AF Canyon when they turned Tibble Fork into a recreational crap hole by putting in the fake sand beach and huge dock. Used to be one of my favorite places to go wet a line during the week after work. Now you are lucky to even find parking and there are 5000 kayaks and paddle boards on the water.

Yep...even silver lake is turning into a zoo. There’s a damn line of cars and mini vans going up the dirt road almost every time I head to silver lake...it sucks.

The best time of year to go up the mountain is winter, no dust, no bugs and no humans.

Most people call it quits once it starts freezing at night in the high elevations. That's my favorite time of year. I have literally had lakes to my self then.

I'm waiting for it to cool down myself so I can get up there. After the mosquito's freeze out, I'm up mirror lake hwy nearly every weekend fishing and camping! Been itching to get up there but this damn heat has been keeping me away...not to mention was up there 3ish weeks ago and couldn't find a camping spot nor any parking at the trail heads..had to park a mile or so down the dirt road.

It was nice when I was up there like June 20ish. There was still snow, nobody really at the lakes. I was fly fishing in a blizard in the morning...good times. Went back there a week later and all the snow melted and the rocky side of the lake looked like tibblefork beach.

True. However, winter changes the game. Most people don’t go there, when the snow is deep.

I grew up near there and in the late 1970s/early 1980s when I was a child, we'd go camping in American Fork Canyon almost every weekend and it was serene and beautiful. We rarely had to "share" it. What that canyon is like now is about the saddest thing I've ever seen. Dust, noise and garbage everywhere, with all the ambiance of a gravel pit. I'm all for outdoor recreation but that canyon is unique and beautiful enough it needs more protection from the heavy visitation and ATV use.

Can you safely put 400 to 500#’s on a Tacoma tailgate?
