Yes, any draft here is 3.2 by weight, which is the exact same thing as 4.0 by volume (ABV being the metric the rest of the universe measures alcohol content by). I can’t explain why we use ABW here, but I suppose it’s just another local quirk.

This is true even at the “bar” bars, and it’s also the reason draft beer here is of a more limited selection compared to other states (and mostly local stuff).

Soon we’ll be moving to 4.0 ABW, which is the same as 5.0 ABV where you’re from. That means bars should be able to start importing some drafts from brewers out of state, giving us consumers more varieties on tap.

Oh I didn’t even catch that it was ABW! Seattle has gotten out of hand because they don’t have a limit on alcohol content and most breweries have beers in the 10-12% ABV.... makes for a short brewery trip and a loss of taste buds shortly after.

I can think of one place I’ve been where they don’t brew below 6% ABV. Hipster trend has taken over up there, I usually just stick to mainstream canned beer. Tastes the same everywhere I go!

All the breweries trying to out do each other ended up making beer taste like you’re eating a spoon full of hops. I like a little hoppy flavor but the unfiltered chunky beer isn’t for me

I’m going to be in the arches/Moab area tomorrow and will be looking for the same thing. So far I’ve just been finding forest service roads and driving until I don’t see any more people, and set up camp there. Not sure how many roads like that are near Moab but I’m hoping for a few

Sounds like we similar modes of travel.... Im not sure, but guessing theres plenty of places to pull over and camp if you get off pavement.. As of now im heading for the Castleton Tower or Lone Mesa campsites... both free if youre interested.. unless anyone here has some better options for me.. but Im not going to be there in Moab/Arches till thurs or fri... First stop is Black Canyon for some fly fishing action before i leave CO

https://freecampsites.net - a site ive been using to help find some good spots.

    Good luck and happy travels

Haha, yeah I’m not into the ABV wars. I just prefer draft beer over bottled, and while there are a few bars with a good draft selection, most places here will only have the same 6 or 8 brews on tap. Not bad, just boring.

My gripe with liquor law is that you can still buy your fancy Seattle 5.0, 6.0, 8.0, 12.0 beers here in Utah, from the very same bar, it just needs to be sold in a bottle. If it’s legal in a bottle, why not on tap??? (/rhetorical complaint)

If you’re going up to Canyonlands NP, there’s a million great spots for dispersed camping just outside the Island in the Sky entrance... Now that's not exactly in Moab, but it’s not too far. Gemini Bridges or Potash/Shafer will get you up there from Moab (or back down) if you've got the time and want to get off the highway. They’re both mild trails, but scenic.

I’m sure anyone else in this thread will have better knowledge/advice for the area, but that's a start.

Okay, who knows what the story is behind the old S-10 or whatever dressed like an Apache helicopter that I see driving in Midvale every once in a while?

I worked with a guy who did that to his truck. Was a proud vet who used to fly. Tad on the excessive side with a bit of batshit crazy mixed in with everything he did. Don’t know if it’s the same guy or not, can’t be two out there, I’m guessing.
