    I can vouch for Wendel and all of his technicians. I may be biased as I work for Mark Miller Toyota, but Wendel is great. He's gone to bat for me several times with warranty issues on our last 4Runner.

    Are most of the people in the SLC area? I got orders to Hill AFB and supposed to be moving in December. Wondering if anyone had any insight for areas to avoid as far as owning a home or any realtors they recommend. Also, should i just plan on garaging my rust free FZJ80 for the winter or will it be okay to drive occasionally without it getting ate up?

    Mostly SLC based, although we have thread members all over the state. The valley doesn't get a lot of snow so while we do use salt, it isn't dumped all over the place like in the northeast.

    Even the worst parts of SLC / Ogden are better than most of LA, etc so there aren't many places I would steer you away from. I would avoid the WVC area if possible, and the commute from north salt lake to the base isn't too bad if you don't want to live in Ogden or base housing.

    Really appreciate your response.

    Pardon my ignorance but i'm not familiar with WVC. After mapping it out we are looking at kinda splitting the difference between Hill and SLC and focusing our efforts on the in the areas between Kaysville down to Bountiful.

    Glad to hear the salting efforts aren't willy nilly, with that in mind are there any snow wheelin trips that get planned? We've had a lot of fun bombing green trails covered in snow the past couple winters in CO!

    Stuff. Also things.
    WVC = West Valley City

    It was pretty rough there years ago when I still lived in Utah and I’d be surprised if it’s any better now.

    I think you're looking in a great area. Decent commute and the housing is more affordable than SLC proper.

    Lot of the good trails around here get gated off in the snowy months like American Fork, etc, but there is still fun to be had. You can def go find trouble towards Logan and into Idaho as well. I don't know of any trips planned currently, but I am sure a few will pop up.

    If you are on facebook at all Utah Toyota OffRoad (UTOR) is a good group to join as that seems to been the place to find all the goings on around here.

    Not particularly. The WVC/Keans/Magna area def is an "interesting" place, but still miles ahead of the area I lived in in LA. Moved in and within hours my roomate and I watched a cholo brandish an AK out the window of a car across the freeway on the Carson side.

    I’m a fan of Mark Miller. Worked with several different people there. All were good experiences.

    Extra bonus points if you get @BHill_teq as your service advisor.

    Anyone have experience with OEM replacement head light housings from RockAuto? I need to purchase new ones since my originals are cracked and yellowish. I have seen prices from 65$ OEM replica to over $200 per unit (from a dealer). Or should I go to a junk yard?

    My advice would be to go south of Ogden...or North of it...but I'd never live in Ogden.

    Unless you like insanely high taxes, don't live in Kaysville. I grew up in Layton real close to the base actually. Davis county is a great place to live and i'm looking to make it back up there the next few years. West Layton has some good new homes, also Syracuse is good as well. Farmington is expensive, Centerville and Bountiful are a little pricey as well but there's not really a "bad" neighborhood in those cities. If you need any more info let me know!
