When I bought my truck new back in 2010, it included a Lo-Jack installation (Common to have in San Diego). I think the plan was valid for 5 years, but it still has installed "somewhere" in the truck. I am wondering if they could track it with it being out of that 5 year period.

My truck would be useless if they tried parting it out. I could see them maybe trying to sell the front long travel kit + shocks (if they knew what it was). The rear, they could maybe sell the bypasses, but they are very recognizable and being in utah, not many trucks have 16" fox bypasses. Everything else on the truck is welded to the frame.

They could maybe sell the light bar and my bumpers, and the roof rack is 1st generation Prinsu that doesn't look like what is on the market.

At least I have some very identifiable items, that would be easy to spot on KSL and craigs list.

LoJack seems like a really good option but the highest upfront cost. $700 is a lot, but also a small fee the second your vehicle is stolen. I think I'm going to get an OBD option and an OBD extender to try to tuck it out of sight. Options seem to to range from $20-70 for the device and from $50-400/ year for the service.

I'm mostly doing it because at this point,1st gens are starting to become irreplaceable. If something happens to mine, I'm not going to be able to find another one with <115k miles, one owner, and minimal rust. Next year I'm throwing a camper on it and building out the bed so it'll really be rough if its ever stolen. Wondering if having a camper makes it more or less likely to be stolen...

Haven't spoke with them much yet. Supposed to get a call sometime in the next hour or so. Depending on what is being fixed and the outcome I may still sell and get something new. Either way, I think it's probably a good thing that it was found because everyone knows insurance always low balls on payouts.

Thanks man, like I said I think it could've been much worse. Based on the pics it looks like I'm basically going to get a whole new dash, but we'll see. Surprised the idiots didn't take the brand new wheels and tires that were on it.

Another decent option for a tracker, of sorts... is a cellstart - remote start. The cell unit his tucked away so they won't really know about it. I paid $300 for mine with the cell feature, not bad.

For those of you who have gotten a CMC done, what did y'all pay? Is $300 a fair price?

I forget the exact dollar amount, but a few of the local toyota guys do them and I think it's like 1/2 that.

    not enough.

can't fix stupid i guess. or they had no idea what wheels/tires are worth these days.

reminds me of that heist in Louisiana where thieves literally took wheel/tires off of cars in a dealership. not just one or two. dozens of cars!
    found the link: https://jalopnik.com/124-wheels-stolen-off-cars-at-louisiana-dealership-in-o-1834471225

Hmm, which local guys? Can you point me to anybody. I contacted fatbobs garage and they wanted $225 I think but they are a bit of a drive. The person who quoted me $300 is pretty dang close to me.

End of December/early January *if* I end up needing it. Once I get all my new suspension parts in, I'll have to schedule a time to have this guy install it all and then get my new tires mounted. So roughly around that time frame. I'm just going under the assumption I will need to have it done and trying to get my ducks in a row without paying an arm and leg.

$300 is usually the price, give or take a few dollars. I would suggest skip the cmc and just go with a cab relocation kit from Alpine Design or Runnin4Tacos.
Everyone's cmc skills is going to differ and some may not be adequate.

Look up on TW Milogen Fabrication, his cmc skills is dope AF and should be the standard for others.

That's pretty cool, the relocation kit. I've never seen that before.

    all right folks.....
What do YOU do for keeping your baby toyoda...i mean toyota clean during winters? I avoid those automatic car washes like the plague but doing the washing in one of those self-car wash joints during the winter is the absolute worst...

Do you take your's to an automatic car wash? if so, which one?
do you wash it yourself in the self car washes?
do you go to the hand car wash places? if so, which one?

Self serve car wash. Mine can't go through auto washes any more. That said, the better ones have hot wash so the water comes out at jacuzzi temps and makes the experience a lot better. Speaking of, that's a project of mine for this weekend.

It's a Toyota Tourer aka Chaser, aka MKII, aka Cresta aka JZX90 haha it has a few different variations. It has the 1JZ motor in it which was in the Supra until the MKIV. It won't be here for a couple months but it's a really popular car in Japan for drifting if I end up liking it i'll get another to turn into a drift comp car.
