Depends on your situation, IMO. The Kings are a single purchase while the rack and rent can be broken up in to two purchases. So if you want to end up with Kings but it’s not that likely you’ll have $3k-$3.5k (could be less depending on what you go with, mine were $3400 for the extended travel with adjusters and Dakar’s in the rear) to spend on a single purchase in the near future, then I would do Kings now and split the tent and rack in to two purchases. I love my Kings and regret not having done them on other vehicles.

On the contrary, I see second hand kings a lot more often than I see second hand tents. Could always save some coin that way.

Very true, and usually second hand tents aren’t much cheaper than new.

    Howdy ya’ll

I didn’t want to divert the current thread topic, although I feel oddly weird contributing and not introducing me self to this thread first.

I’m Kurt, first Tacoma owner and I prefer that I bought one mucho sooner than when I did! I’ve learned a lot from this thread alone and look forward to it in the future.

Welcome! Here's what you need to know. everyone complains about the 3rd gen. everyone always asks about lifts and tire fitment.

But the folks on this thread are well adjusted it seems. Good fun here.

My insurance did something similar when my truck was burglarized. Straight up refused to cover anything that wasn't "permanently attached" to the truck. So when I tried to run it through my renter's policy, they devalued everything to the point my payout was less than my deductible...so I got nothing.

    I hate insurance companies!!!

That’s who I have. Solid company to work with both banking and insurance wise. I’ve so been “told” by some other companies that they have some of the best auto insurance attorneys.

Oh absolutely. Even if I paid a few buck more on average. I would totally do it. I’ve never had an organization be as responsive and easy to work with as them.
