I was at the metal recyclers last week. Watched a guy drive up in a new BMW 5 series and take 3 garbage bags of cans out of his trunk to recycle. Still scratching my head over that one.

Vehicles are the worst investment. lol I don't have a lot of hobbies anymore, that is how I can justify putting money into vehicles.

After the pandemic is over, I plan on selling my rig and using that money to build another vehicle.. worst decision ever. lol

All those upgrades are bad ass, if you can do it go for it. It's worth it, makes the taco even better.

So I thought about this a little more. If you are going secondary shocks and beefed arms, why wouldnt you go LT? The incremental cost isnt *that* much more and adds more capability too.

Dropping all that money in the front and staying stock has been what's kept me from buying better LCAs.

I think you mean "Land of Zion's" *eye twitch*

I thought about the long travel angle, but I’m not sure I’m ready for fiberglass just yet.

As I come to my senses, I’ll likely just start with the hammer hangers and upgraded leaf pack.

I really do like the TC LCA’s though.

Yes, you are correct on your Zion comment.

So I need a little help
I just went through all 595 pages of this thread looking for a photo that I have seen. I seen someone post a photo of a arch like rock formation that you can camp under that is somewhere west of the salt lake. Would someone be willing to message me the location of that? Planning some different places to go when all this shit lifts.

Believe me, buy once, cry once. On my truck, I went straight to long travel since I grew up riding around in LT trucks. Long travel does open up a can of worms. The first thing is the interior plastic trim will start to creak due to all the extra articulation. You just get used to it. Second, your truck will squeak due to all the urethane bushings. You don't have to drive it fast to utilize the long travel. That is a big misnomer. It adds so much extra articulation. Your tires will be in contact with the ground so much more often.

Also, think hard before upgrading the front. I have seen many stories on here where people wish they would have just gone to long travel after spending all the money for a mid-travel setup.

Fiberglass fenders aren't hard to put on. Just make sure you do two things for living in Utah. Make inner fender liners (see pic below) with mud flaps. They aren't too hard to make, and get them line-x'ed. You can have line-x color match them, but the line-x also gives them extra stiffness. I prefer the line-x since they are protected from branches. Painting is a waste since it will eventually be pin-striped.

For rear long travel, that Simmons industries cantilever kit is pretty slick. I have seen it up close and it is well thought out. Or even a simple spring under axle conversion (Total chaos) will allow you to run some 14" bypasses without cutting the bed. The rear makes a huge difference when going long travel. You will find out quickly how limiting your rear is by doing the front first.

I have had long travel on my rig for years. Been many places. It makes the front end easy to work on since the sway bar is removed. If it weren't for me wanting to switch to a solid axle and build a gladiator, I wouldn't be considering selling my truck.

Yes, the extra maintenance is another reason I should avoid messing with the front end. That is a good point. I DO NOT enjoy maintenance. Plus, I really don’t run my truck that hard.

I’ve read a lot of good things about adding the hammer hangers. Supposed to get rid of the rear end chatter. The hammer mod I definitely want to do.

Does anyone make fiberglass fenders that fit decent? All the ones I've seen look like ass.

At least dink it with tonic water. The quinine helps prevent malaria!
