I walked half way down this hill before driving it. The snow was decent and not too slippery. I put it in 4lo and 1st gear and just crawled down it (making sure not to hit the brakes). One of the many white knuckle experiences offroad. Going off the cliff would have been game over.

I'm intrigued. I've no experience with any of those routes. Would like to do Top of the World, b/c why not? It looks like camping is still closed. Are you doing the hotel thing? Would much rather camp. Maybe La Sale Forest is open?

I'm interested in getting an offroad app, likely will go with the Gaia GPS. My problem is that my attention span for these kinds of details is short.

CRAWL Control, it was designed for this. Okay, I've yet to use it personally, but I've been reading a lot about it, and it seems this is what it's good at.

If I wasn't going back offshore I would join.

I think I would get a new set of skids before doing Rose Garden Hill. Sounds like a good trip.

I am old school as I don't have crawl control. Luckily being a manual with 4:56 gears I can crawl in 1st gear 4lo.

Top of the world isn't too hard. There is one 'challenging spot' that is a ledge but I think enough people have piled rocks up to where you can just drive up. I haven't made it to the very end. Last time doing it was Feb of 2018. It was snow covered and the last set of ledges seemed sketchy as they were ice covered (we turned around). It was just the wife, Dogs and I. Some 40mi from Moab if you had to walk out.

I haven't done Rose garden hill, but from all the reviews, it is very difficult and you should go with multiple vehicles with winches. I think body damage might be possible in one section.

    IMG_20180224_141638.jpg

I have done most of steel bender, but there is a Very Large Ledge . The way we were going, we would have been going down. We had some stock vehicles in our group, and we didn't want to take them down the ledge. I went with Alex and Tyler of TNA, and they took Bubbles (long travel 4 runner) down the ledge. It was sketchy watching that 4 runner go down the ledge.

Coming up Tyler broke the U-joint and we winched him back up. It is very impressive watching Tyler wheel with the use of sticks to control the gas/ brake. He has been a paraplegic since he was 18 due to a motorcycle accident. Mad props to that guy.

If you are looking to go down the below ledge, the way the 4runner is coming up is probably the safest. The right side of the pic has like an 8-10' drop.

I had pelfrey skids on which were good but just put bamf full skids on now. Still always worried about driveshaft, cvs and blowin rear gears so I dont get too krazy knowing I have to drive home or in one case trailer home

I've not decided if I dislike body damage more or less than drive shaft malfunction, but probably drive shaft since with body damage you can still drive out.

So apparently there was a drive-by shooting on 9400 S in Sandy just a little bit ago. :goingcrazy:

Yeah, one of my UPD homies was like "Isn't that around where you live?" not anymore, but thats unusual for Sandy.

Keep that Kearns Magna ish over on that side of the valley.

Anyone know this POS? Came into our back yard this morning at 0150, and also at 0400. Took a $800 Trek mountain bike off the patio and a drywall encrusted JBL bluetooth speaker from the garage. I also saw him try to open my truck but luckily it was locked with nothing inside.

Filed a police report this morning. Happened on 500e in sugarhouse. He arrived on a bike. Looks like some hipster kid, doesn't look homeless or a transient. From our front cameras, I saw another person on bike as well. This guy went into our neighbors yard/ garage as well but didn't take any tools.

I am glad our dogs stayed in the yard with the back gate open all night.
