Nice lots of that work up here(slc) I have a couple of good friends that do it. They do lots of movies and concerts that are all over the state every year. But with fab skills you’ll be good anywhere all my fab boys are super busy I can’t get them to make me anything at the moment.

That’s a damn good idea, people love their giant pickup trucks here. And a ladder rack could also work for kayaks or rooftop tents.

Well that’s good to know. Thanks man! I appreciate it. Definitely have some things to figure out that’s for sure haha!

Thanks man. I figured I could generate a decent amount of business doing that. And you’re right for sure. Could use it as a contractors rack for lumber and ladders during the week and use it for your kayaks on the weekend haha!

I have a buddy who's in the market for a first gen.

Let me know if anyone in here is selling or has knowledge of a solid one being sold. I had a 1st so I'm pretty well versed on what to look for when buying.

    Thanks

Wow that thing's clean! The underside looks almost too good to be true. Got the bulletproof 4cyl + manual trans combo too. Very cool. Very pricey too.

My dad has a cherry '01 Extra Cab V6 TRD OR 5-speed that he takes to Home Depot a couple times a month. Some day he'll be ready to let that one go...

It looks like it has a safety cap welded to the frame at the driver’s side spring hanger. That’s a known trouble spot for frame rust. Buyer beware.

Looks like Original paint and some spray paint to cover some surface rust.

Yep, I have a neighbor that drove gear around for Disney shows, stays mostly in Utah and was always busy. In fact he was so busy that he quit and became an HVAC man...then got laid-off from that due to covid so he's considering going back to Disney. There's ton's of that kind of production stuff always going on around the state.

I was born in Cedar City, lived there for many years, had family there for even longer, and still have many friends there (no more family there now). It's a little too hillbilly for me. The weather is also about the same as up here around SLC and my biggest motivation for moving is getting out of the snow. If I want snow, I can head up to my cabin in the winter and get plenty of it, then head home to warm weather :D

I have a question for those who pull a trailer. I’m looking at custom ordering a 6x12 Haulmark enclosed trailer to use for hauling things occasionally and camping. The empty weight is 1,250 lbs. with GVWR of 3,500 lbs.
I’ll probably be around 2,000 pounds when camping (just a guess).
How awful is it going to be towing this over Utah mountain passes? I have a 2nd Gen double cab, 4x4, 4.0 with auto trans. No extra weight besides bed cover and BFG KOs (32”) and TRD BAJA suspension.

Already posted in another forum but lacking responses..

I bought my current truck in Feb. It had some steering wheel shimmy when I would brake - new rotors and pads fixed it, rotors were super warped. (thanks again @Gunshot-6A)

Last week the shimmy came back.... but brakes are still brand new. Im thinking (leaning towards) a ceased brake piston :frusty: Any suggestions?

When I had my second gen, I also towed around a 6x12 Haulmark with my dirtbikes in it. It handled fine, total weight was around 2500-2700 (I had a good sized toolbox in it as well). I had a stock offroad, also with 32" BFG KO2s and eventually added a shell to it. The rear suspension was just a little soft for my liking, but as long as you remember you have a trailer back there, it's fine. With my third gen, I tow an aluminum trailer with my 4 seat rzr on. Total weight on the trailer is probably 2700-3000lbs. It actually tows awesome. I do have Dakar medium duty springs and King shocks, but I was shocked at how well it tows. That same setup with my Raptor didn't tow as nice. The Raptor had more power, but never felt real stable. What will help you the most is good tires (I personally like E rated), airbags or something to help keep it level, brake controller if your trailer has brakes. For 2K lbs, I don't think any of that is required though to do it safely.

Since we all like pics :D

Going back a long time ago when I used to maintain a fleet of Dodge trucks, check all your balljoints...maybe even just replace them all. I've seen many times that they feel tight, but replacing them fixes the issue. Dodges were notorious for warped rotors and killing ball joints. (drag link joint is the worse)

Thanks for the info. I’m getting a brake controller and may need air lift bags. I have an Icon AAL with overload spring removed.

I’m going to custom order the trailer, I was surprised the low cost of upgrades, far cheaper than doing them yourself.
It’s a 6x12 Transport V nose, flat roof. Axle brakes, RV screened door with window, insulated walls and ceiling, two 30x26 windows, two roof vents with MaxxAir covers, one vent it powered, and deluxe interior package, $5,280. I wanted a 2” lift but they say they can’t do that.
