Probably near the end of September.

I avoid Provo like the plague. but I'm in Northern Utah County so I get away from most of the weirdness. not as well as if I had lived in SLC but...it works.

That's pushing the season edge, but you'll prob be fine. Def check the weather before you hit dirt.

Yeah, I told my buddy that we'll have to keep an eye on the weather for sure. might have to call it if it gets any amount of snow.

anyone ever replace their rack/pinion bushings? I believe mine are on the fritz. I get a loud metallic clanking noise only at super low speeds when i am cranking the wheel(parking lots, tight maneuvering on trails, etc.) either direction. I can also create the noise, to a lesser degree, when I have the vehicle parked, wheels on the ground and I move the wheel back and forth approximately an inch or so. I do not feel any "looseness" in the steering wheel or any other symptoms for that matter besides the loud noise I described previously.

It seems like the only thing that could be going on. LBJ/UBJ are all good and greased, TRE inner/outer seem intact and not leaking PS fluid, Cams were aligned in May so should be torqued properly, I removed my sway bar so nothing there, brakes are good. I am at a loss and currently without a floor jack so I really don't feel like ripping off my skid plates to get in there with a pry bar and fuss with the rack. Anything else I should check, or if you have had to replace bushings was it a royal pain in the ass? And if you did replace them, what were the symptoms prior to repair?

My truck has bent inner tie rods that have warped the seals on the rack and pinion, which in the process of slowly leaking steering fluid. It’s replacement is sitting in the garage waiting to be swapped out. I also had the loud clunk when turning the wheel. Especially when turning into the driveway etc.

When I swapped my LCAs (because I knew the bushings and lower ball joints were shot) the sound went away.

Although it could be your steering rack. Could it be your LCA bushings or lower ball joints? That’s what mine was.
