agreed! Mike at Marlin Crawler even noted this in a post on the marlin crawler forums in extreme detail in terms of what each Tacoma gen is capable of limitations wise in terms of cvs, steering rack, tie rods, etc before heavy fab wor - I’ll try to find the post but it was enlightening and to the point. In a nutshell, although the strongest IFS to date - it’s still not designed to be pushed with tires over 33s.

my question is though with “35s” are we just talking sheer diameter? Or weight, width, etc that also make a standard 315 a “35”?

because I have a set of 275/80/17 sitting right here in front of me (MTRs) and they measure 34-34.5 like most “35” but considerably more skinny and only weigh 63lbs which is hardly more than most 33 MTs. I also don’t need a ridiculous offset to clear suspension components because of their width, thus taking even more stress off the steering. I’ll be running 17x8.5, 0 offset

curious to hear people’s thoughts as it’s something I’ve gone back and forth pondering about in my quest to build my truck for multiple purposes while retaining as much reliability as possible

I'd love to read that post if you can find it.
But I think that it is mostly the weight that damages components. Or it could be the fact that people run their trucks harder when they have bigger tires and more ground clearance.

Just posting a feeler in here. I’ve started unlocking ECU’s for Orange Virus vF Tuner for turd gens and collecting tunes. So far I have 04B04 (2016-2017 AT) and 04A71 (2018 MT) as well as most the released 2.0 tunes for those ECU’s. I can unlock 2 more ECU’s with the credits I have but am still collecting tunes. No AT tunes are released for 2018 forward yet, but I plan to get some once they are available and can unlock those ECU’s if there are enough people interested.

Is anyone interested in getting tunes flashed without buying all the software and tune packs? I’m thinking for ECU’s I’ve unlocked I can flash tunes I have for $50 or so. I can even tweak settings for changing alternator voltage if you have an AGM battery, etc...

Not looking to make a business out of this, I mostly see it as a community service to help poor fellow turd gen’s be less turdy. Sorry if this is spammy.

Hey there neighbors, I'll be driving through UT in Nov and hoping to stop off in Zion. Could anyone provide some insight or point me in the right direction for visiting the park that late in the year. Tips, recommendations, more appropriate threads, etc.
Not sure if we will camp or get a hotel in the area but we will be staying the night to break up the drive from Denver to San Diego.

I don’t have any insight for you. I haven’t been to Zion in forever. I just didn’t want to leave you totally hanging.

I do think you’ll be fine. It could be chilly, but otherwise good.

I used to live down there, fall and winter were my favorite times to visit Zion. Just stop at the ranger station and get a trail map. Every hike is spectacular. Most of them can be done in a few hours.

You’d better jump on it right now if you want a camping spot or hotel room in the park; they have to be reserved in advance.

Thank you both for the input! I'll start looking into accommodations this weekend.

    Question for SLC peeps:

Where do you all recommend getting a good alignment? Installing a Bilsten 6112/5160 lift tomorrow and I'll probably want to get an alignment done after. I'm not lifting very high, just 1.5" front and about 2" in back. Sticking with stock UCAs for now. Hopefully it'll be easy to align, but I'd like to go to a good shop.

    Thanks!

Just dropped it off. Should be done mid afternoon. I'm so excited to have a not bent front end again.

Any suggestions on where to camp next weekend? I was thinking about Payson Lakes but with so many forest fires in the area, I think it will be too smokey. Most campgrounds are going to "first come, first served" I wonder if availability will be limited because of the increase in camping due to COVID. I have a 6x12 enclosed trailer, so I don't need RV hookups, but a nearby toilet would be nice for my wife.

Trying to source some front fenders for an 01-04 Tacoma for a friend. Hoping to find some local to avoid shipping cost. Preferrably with the plastic fender flares. Located in Davis County but willing to drive a couple hrs. Thanks

Any color will do but if someone has them in mystic gold metallic we wont have to respray them.
