ROCKtober is next week. I would like to go but don’t want to solo in Moab.

I would be down for a November trip. I’ll have to look up Lockhart Basin and Poison Spring to see how technical they are. I assume my rig is good. :notsure:

I really want to do TOTW, just not solo.

Poison Spring or Poison Spider? Ive done poison spider and top of world 3 times on different trips. Top is kool but a rough ride, lol. Poison is a really fun trail, kinda difficult and obstacles look harder than they are. Never been out to Lockhart. Did Rose Garden Hill across to Top of World. Rose Garden Hill is short but gnarly!!!

Yeah but I never like to wheel solo!! If you dont have a high clearance or at least a bumper you dont mind to bash, get one of those skid plate hitch thingz to save ur azz if you do TOW. Buddy in 3rd gen and I wheeled that and poison spider. He had hitch skid and it saved his rear bumper

I'll be there most of next week. LMK if you change your mind and want to hit a trail with a second truck.

Poison spring/ dirty devil. You enter the trail about 15mi south of Hanksville. The trail then leads you to an area called the dollhouse which is west of Canyonlands.

Here is the series of trails.

    https://funtreks.com/off-road-trails/poison-spring-canyon/

This will lead you to a turnoff where you can go to the dollhouse. From what I have read, you should at least have 33's and a rear locker for the dollhouse area.

Flint trail will lead you up out of the canyon/ dollhouse area. If you do not take this trail, it is a drive back though the poison spring trail to Hwy 95.

    https://funtreks.com/off-road-trails/flint-trail/

From the top of flint trail, you can take some gravel roads to green river, or back to HWY 24 near goblin state park.

I think the trip would require over 120+ mi of offroad driving (most in low range).

I did it a couple years ago with my wife + doggos (one truck). We made it to within an 1/8th mile of the top? My mud terrains were pretty worn down and I didn't want to risk getting stranded or having body damage. We did it in February and it was covered in snow/ ice. We also didn't see any other vehicles that day. If you are comfortable doing difficult trails solo (with a spotter), I would say that it is fine but it comes down to personal experience. My wife and I have done some moderate/ hard trails by ourselves before and havent had issues, but there are some definite risks.

I also carry a lot of recovery gear/ and some spare parts (Inner/ Outer tie-rods, misc bolts from my long travel kit etc).

I think the top of the trail is just past these series of ledges. It was sketchy getting to this point with everything covered in ice.

This portion of the trail was somewhat dry/ non ice covered. Going up this would have been a no-go if it was covered in ice.

IDK, but my camper trailer neighbor and I spent a fair amount of time saving the bacon of a few vehicles that rolled in after dark.

Mainly because their headlights were shining into our camp

I don’t like to wheel alone either, but sometimes it becomes necessary.
