    Hey All,

Any shops around that you guys would recommend for coilover install and the ECGS bearing install? I’ve got a 2020 OR and want to make sure to have the lift done by a qualified shop. That way I’m covered when Toyota won’t warranty something because it’s “lifted”

If my truck was outside of warranty I’d do the work myself but as of now I still have a lot of warranty left

Qualified shop or not isn’t going to make a difference if Toyota is going to have an issue with the lift. If that’s your reasoning then have them installed by the dealer. With that said, I haven’t ever had any issues with the Toyota dealers in Utah and lifted vehicles. I had Kings on my 2020 in the first 20 miles I owned the truck :D (drove it home from the dealer and put it on jack stands and tore it apart)

I just had Fat Bob’s in Layton do my 6112/5160 lift with SPC UCAs. They did an excellent job and the truck rides and tracks great. They had the ECGS in stock which I thought was a good sign. Ask for Marc, he’s the Toyota guy there. As others said, I don’t think it’ll help your warranty one way or the other.

I should have clarified, I don’t expect Toyota to be anymore willing to warranty a part because a qualified shop did the install. But by doing so, in theory if I have a warranty claim that Toyota won’t cover, I would think/hope a qualified shop would warranty the issue (ofcourse that doesn’t include wear items like CV axles)

On a side note, it seems like the dealers I’ve talked to don’t know about the ECGS so that doesn’t give me much confidence they would be the best install location.

That’s good to know about the UT Toyota dealership being willing to warranty items on Tacoma’s with lift/level! I purchased a Toyota platinum warranty 100k bumper to bumper. From what I’ve heard, the dealership you take the truck to can make the warranty claims easy or hard/impossible. Do you have a dealer you prefer that is easiest to work with?

What does a Toyota Platinum 100K bumper to bumper warranty cost?
    Did you finance the warranty?

Well, I think you’re still confusing/over complicating things. A qualified shop (not sure what makes them “qualified” or not) isn’t going to have anything to do with your Toyota warranty. As you said, if you replace the coil overs, then the warranty you get on them is between you and the mfg of the coil overs, not the shop that installs the coil overs. The only time the shop that does the install really comes in to play is if they do a poor job on install but are willing to make it right, so they cover the labor. If your shock fails though, it’s not too often the shock mfg will cover the labor to replace that failed shock, usually it’s just parts (new shock, rebuild existing, etc).

As for dealers, I’ve had zero issues with Karl Malone (actually bought a new lifted Tundra from them even, but have taken lifted Tacomas, 4Runner, and other lifted Tundras for warranty work and the only comment about not covering something was because my other Tundra was a Canada truck so certain thing weren’t covered...which I already knew). I’ve also taken my trucks to Mark Miller with no issues and now that I’m in S. Utah, I took my 2020 to the dealer down here (I think it’s Ken Garff) and haven’t had any issues or even comments suggesting they had any issues with the lift. I’ve done all my lifts, beside the one on the lifted Tundra I got from KM, myself.
