Hey guys, just wanted to jump in and introduce myself. I've been lurking for over a year, but I traded in my F-150 and bought a Tacoma (2020 TRD Off-road DCSB manual) in May of last year. I've been getting into "overlanding" (not sure I can call what I do overlanding, but I do use the truck) for a few years and want to get involved in the local Tacoma community. I'm based in Ogden, but I get down to southern Utah fairly often. In fact, I'm getting married in Canyonlands next month and was down there last weekend scoping out the spot. I'm gonna try to be more active in this thread. As an offering, here's a pic from last weekend. And before you ask, I know the predator steps need to come off. I hit all four steps last time I did the White Rim Road and we're doing part of it again right after we get married. I just haven't had a chance to crawl under the truck and pull them off...PXL_20210212_234156479.jpg

Thanks. As for what took me so long... probably intimidation. And fear that if I hang out with you guys too much I'll end up spending even more than I have on the truck.

Went to Moab last week (2/12) and did the Cameo Cliff to Wilson Arch trail and some hiking. Its about 30mi south of moab. Didn't have time to do other trails, but it was good to take a quick trip.

One of the many highlights of the trail was this small section with a cliff on either side. We finished the trail in time before it started to rain/ snow.

Going to be heading to the Moab area this spring/summer for a mountain bike and "whatever" trip. Also going to check out Arches and Canyonlands for day hikes. Can anyone recommend some good dispersed camping areas for truckbed camping, possibly tent. Scenic views a +. Also, what's the typical weather like late May/early June? Thanks!

    Well...you say that now... :D

It'll be 90-100s during the day at that point. No moisture in the air to speak of whatsoever. Good news is that once the sun goes down, it's pretty amazing.

May and June timeframe is pretty damn hot, made the mistake of climbing on a sun facing face midday... not good on the hands. the hard part about that time of year if you're looking to stay in the backcountry is finding shade and/or relief from the sun beating down on you.

Any time in April is a pretty good time to go, with Easter Jeep being cancelled that will open up a lot more options for backcountry/primitive camping.

hot and dry. if you're a desert rat, then it's manageable. but if not, it'll be very hot.

Plus the red rock just soaks up that sun and makes it feel even hotter. My favorite time of year to go is spring or fall when everyone is in school. During the summer it can get pretty crowded as well.
