Seems like insurance companies like to get a jump on inflation...

Do any of you remember when Utah was a "no-fault" insurance state... and you only insured your own car? Much cheaper.

I wonder what % of the premium actually goes to uninsured motorists ... bet that pads it quite a bit too

From what I understand the uninsured motorist premium is one of the best investments in insurance. Comprehensive coverage is much better than the collision considering premium and percentages of claims/pay-outs.

All I carry is liability, minimal medical, uninsured driver, and towing. $250 a year instead of $250 a month...

I use State Farm for my vehicles and homes. Not the cheapest but it’s not terrible and they have always been great to work with. I use Progressive for my motorcycles and rzrs. State Farm was stupid expensive for the toys.

If anyone is curious, progressive just quoted me $50 less a month for my runner and a vette than Geico did just for my runner.

We used to have State Farm, and they really pissed me off. I hit an unmarked manhole in an unmarked construction zone in my 350z when I was 18 and within minutes of totaling it they sold it to copart and refused to let me even access the car. I had to go up to the body shop and bribe the guy to let me into it. I’ve got Allstate now and have no complaints. But progressive is way leading the quotes right now.

Not too surprising. I don’t remember the exact numbers but Progressive was like $200 a month cheaper than State Farm for a rzr and a dirt bike. I’ve now added another rzr and two more bikes and I’m still paying less than the original State Farm quote by over $100.

Bear River mutual had the best rates for me by far. Although I’ve never had to file a claim so I can’t speak to if it’s good service for cheap or just cheap.

Not as much of an issue in Utah, but in VA, uninsured motorist coverage was a must. Lotta folks driving around that shouldn't have been. Get in an accident and they don't even have a DL, let alone insurance.

In my younger years, I got in many accidents (like more than 10 by the time I was 18 that had significant damage)...none were my fault. As a result, I worked with many different ins companies and Bear River was always the worse. If they had BR, I would just go straight to my ins and let State Farm go after Bear River for payment. There were more than once that State Farm would have to threaten the other insurer with a personal suit because BR had refused to pay. Getting pressure from the BR insurer would usually get them to pony up.

Hey gang...newer TW member here. Just came across this UT thread. Are there any get togethers, clubs, events...etc with Tacoma owners in UT? Any offroading or overlanding Tacoma groups out there? Been pulling together beginner overlanding type mods and looking to get out and see more of the UT backcountry...so looking for groups or events that include Tacomas.

    Not much stock left.
Welcome to the local thread. There are occasional meet ups. @Gunshot-6A is the local TW organizer.

You can also check Expedition Utah’s forum. I’ve done a few trips with them. I’ve met some good people from there.

If you’re into FB, then you can checkout UTOR.

I’m looking to do a trip to the Swell soon. I would also like to do the Utah BDR.

    not enough.
Welcome! Pandemic has really shut down any meetups but I'm sure we'll start having meetups soon. UTOR and WTT4R are the two main groups on Facebook. Viewer beware, there's some salty people in there every so often. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I don't have a facebook account so I'll just keep watching here for upcoming meet-up events or opportunities.
