The metroplex... Spanish Fork north thru SLC to Ogden is where all the jobs are. Affordable housing is relative to earnings, and many people here are priced out of the market too. Most of the country style living near the metroplex is now deemed future development and hardly affordable unless you have a big nest egg.

But there are cheaper places to live, a scramble to find work with what you might consider a decent salary. Places between Payson and Cedar City, and east toward Colorado can be less expensive. Vernal has better paying jobs and the real estate is not yet through the roof. If you get out of the city there is going to be a pretty stiff Mormon influence.

Just out of curiosity, why is everyone moving out of California? It seems like all at once, everyone wants out.

That’s what I have heard, and they are taking their CA politics with em :bananadead:. I live in San Diego. Moved here to go to school and it’s nice weather and what not, but we are so over the mass crowds of people every where you go. Even when you drive far out there’s still people everywhere. The cost of living is ridiculous here and even if I could afford to buy a 700k house here, I wouldn’t.

Well Utah is supposed to double in population by 2050, as if the camping spots here and the 15 aren’t already way over crowded. Utah is going to be a totally different place soon..

I imagine folks in the 1980s were saying the same thing about it doubling by 2020. I figure I'd best enjoy it now for what it is, and figure out how to enjoy whatever it becomes.

Sorry but there's really not that much influence. It's a myth.

The west ends of Davis and Weber counties have a rural feel while still being relatively close to the freeway and urban centers. They're a little more affordable than the Salt Lake valley but not by much.

Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain are more affordable and a little less crowded

Indeed. Of course this assumes there will be some water left by then. From the way we’re going, I wouldn’t count on it.

    LOL!

I worked 20 years back with a few retired Teamsters who did line haul out of SLC. Catholics from the Midwest. They said UT was a good place with good people, but if you weren’t LDS, you felt it. I’ll say this, when I studied literature in college, the LDS kids knew their scriptures.

Hey. Now that I (maybe) pissed off UT, who can tell me where the good runs are between Coalville and Flaming Gorge? I’m picking up a teardrop trailer in late August and want to explore to the north and east.

Already is a different place. I’ve watched it change significantly in my short life time.
go drive up to spirit lake via the sheep creek geologic loop and then you can virtually travel dirt from there all the way to coalville. Little bit of pavement on mirror lake but that’s literally all the pavement you’ll be on the whole way. If you have Gaia I can share a route
