Sorry bro. I've been here since the '70s. The morman influence is palpable. If you don't think this is the case, then you are clearly mormon and doing the influencing.

When I was in High School, At least back then, if you weren't mormon, you didn't date, you didn't get summer jobs, you didn't ever make the sport-ball teams... When I was in grade school the kids said I was 'of the devil' because I didn't go to the One True Church... I couldn't wait to get out of this state, so I joined the Army and away I went. Then I realized, despite the mono-culture and terrible politicians, Utah is a pretty great place to live. Mormons make great neighbors. They're clean, they don't have loud parties... But you bet your ass I'd like to see some things change. Having the mormon church control state legislature is not what this country was founded on.

I’m sorry you had that experience growing up. That is not the way I was taught to treat people. I’d kick my kids ass if they ever excluded anyone because of their religion or lack of religion. Now I can say that I taught my kids to stay away from kids that were drinking, smoking, doing drugs, having indiscriminate sex, breaking laws, etc. Thats my right and belief. Never because race or religion. Often it was perceived as being bigoted but it wasn’t.

My sister lived in New Jersey and came back to Utah because of how her Mormon kids were treated in high school. I had very bad experience traveling for business and being called out and ridiculed by Evangelical “Christians” in front of 500 people at a government conference. It goes both ways but I don’t hold grudges or get bitter. I know it’s because one or both sides don’t understand and respect each other. Just remember the Golden Rule.

I’m also sorry I broke my word that said I was done talking about this subject in a TRUCK forum.

Has anyone hiked to Lake Blanch in the past few weeks? Is there water running down from the small glacier on the east side of Sundial Peak? I suck down 2.5 liters on the way up then fill up out of that stream again before the way down. I bring a water purifier.

You can't possibly know how much I appreciate your story. But just as your experiences are real and hurtful, so are those of ours, us that don't go to your church and we live in Utah. There will never be a healing if the church continues to deny the problems non-Mormons face at the hands of (many) Mormons, and how the state government is dominated by the church to their benefit at the expense of non-Mormons. As expressed in another post, all dominant churches tend to have bullies in them... but as far as I know only Mormons own a state legislature and instruct their membership to avoid conversations that reveal bad things about the membership. Institutionalized oppression.

If I ever meet you in person I'll shake your hand, respect your beliefs, and be your friend without any strings attached. I know there are A-holes in every walk of life and in every organization, religion, neighborhood, race, sex, and on and on and on. Let's just not judge the entire human race on the actions of a few.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. I have no animosity or hatred or grudges. Who has time for that crap. :) The golden rule is so often overlooked, right?

And this is the UTAH truck forum, and the influence of the LDS church on all things Utah is pretty powerful.

I wish it was a "few". I live in a town of thirtyfive hundred for twelve years and have yet to be invited into a Mormon home for anything other than a hidden solicitation to join the church. And when I am clear about my lack of interest I am branded with a scarlet letter and am persona non grata.

I'm fine with shaking your hand and calling you a friend as long as you treat me as you would church members. And beyond that... recognize that your Brothers and Sisters that treat non-members like something to feed on are not "few".

Wherever you go, don't tell anyone that you moved there from California. It's social suicide and you'll be immediately shunned by the locals.

I would’ve taken an after shot, but it doesn’t look much better. I used almost half a bottle cleaner. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why I wanted a filter that needed cleaning.

This filter has close to 40,000 miles on it, when acounting for tire size. No wonder it looks like a disaster.

LOL! Technically, no. I’ve been reminded once or twice by the lovely service folks at Mark Miller that I should clean my air filter. I just never did.

    I have no good excuse.

I bet that really helps move more air in the cabin with this heat. I usually buy cheap filters on Amazon. I figure they don’t need to be super high quality like engine filters.

Whoa!! On the bright side, a clean filter will give you like +30hp compared to that :burnrubber:
