Just enough to look kinda cool.
It’s called Boulder basin or Boulder City. It’s about 10 miles north of Sun valley, Idaho. It’s a super cool trail and that rock ledge is it only truly different part. Everything else has a bypass. @m3bassman has some great pictures from the trip

    Hey all,

Any body in the SLC can recommend a Toyota mechanic?

We've been on a road trip around Utah and Colorado and somewhere along the way my tail lights stopped working. Brake lights, reverse, and turn signals all work but the tail light fuse keeps blowing and I don't have the skills or the tools to chase down the issue. Thanks in advance!

Those can be “fun” to chase down, hope it’s something simple.
The guys at Agility Customs are great Toyota mechanics and well known in the community here. Sean at Star Boys in Draper is great too. State Automotive in Sandy is a good Toyota shop too, though can be a little more pricey.

Looks like we get a decent rest of the week. Guess it's time to touch up the underside of the truck with paint before all the salt goes down

Do you have a cap? Because depending on how they wired the third brake light it could be popping that fuse. Happened to me and after pulling out the wiring i haven’t poped a fuse since.

If you have broken off your stock tow 7 pin and bracket it can short out onyour hitch or anything else metal it can pop the brake light fuse, tail light fuse, or the towing auxiliary fuse. I popped my brake fuse this way and it caused my abs light to pop up on the dash and my brake lights didn’t work. Thought i broke a wheel speed sensor wheeling and spent hours inspecting them all before I figured it out

Anyone seen that funky green color of the Pro? I think I might like it…. For about a week. So maybe I’ll go Lunar Rock or White again. I can’t decide. Anyone recommending a good dealer for putting the deposit down and buying from? I talked to some dude at Mark Miller yesterday (Ive never bought from them in any of my 7 Toyota truck purchases), but the guy seemed pretty cool and mostly honest.

Thanks Gunshot! I’m glad to hear that Mark Miller has a pretty good rep. Twice upon a time I had a good experience with Bountiful Toyota, but it was under different ownership, and the salesman actually was really into bending over backwards in order to continue to get repeat sales and referrals. Those times are gone.

I think Karl Malone is the worst I’ve ever even spoken to about a truck. I mean in the western US and I’ve talked to them all. Anyone had a good experience there? I think I’ll probably drop the deposit at Mark Miller. Just need to pick a color I suppose.

Really haven't heard anything about KM but I have heard some very negative things about Tony Devino up in the Ogden area. (UTOR members do/used to get a parts dept discount from them though.)

Larry Miller is horrible. At least their lexus shop. Purchased my wife's nx there quite literally worst experience we have ever had buying a vehicle. Mark Miller all the way, also mark Miller will not sell over msrp even In these times. Ask for the guy with the handlebar mustache and bald. Don't know his name but he sold me my tundra and he's awesome

If you want overland white rim is awesome, though not very technical. You also need to make reservation in advance online. For Xmas, now is prob about the right time to snag something. Also if you want overland but up the skill level, there is lockhart basin/Canyon trail which is essentially the white rim but no res public land and from the other side of the river. Elephant hill is pretty awesome too. If you venture further west toward green river utah there's a bunch of spots main one being cathedral Valley in the San rafeal swell (tons of awesome places not too hard in the swell.) Trailsoffroad.com has downloadable gpx Trax that are well worth it.

Edit : also shouldn't need ac at all but be prepared for everything else being moab in Dec. Pm me if you have questions

The guy who contacted me on my initial inquiry was named Kyle (at MM). Do any of you guys get a referral bonus if I switch to one of the people you’ve worked with? I’m happy to do that. We used to do that in the FJ club to keep people in free oil changes or parts at cost or whatever $100 restaurant gift card they were offering.

So… “Kyle” just contacted me and let me know the pipeline is open on the Trail edition. Who is going to convince me to get a trail instead of a Pro? I really want an army green (which is available on the trail). But…. I Am also kind of digging the crawl control and possibly my first Toyota ever with leather and heated seats like the Pro has. Oh decisions decisions. Why isn’t the Pro army green? And why doesn’t it have those fantastic arrays of stripes like the 1979 Hi Lux my forest ranger neighbor had on her green 4x4 Hi Lux that she would drive me to school in? That began my love with the ‘Yota.
