I made the trip too. Drove the new Taco all the way down there. Such a great experience! Hopefully they'll make it back in the next few years.

 

i'm not a major sports fan but even I can appreciate Utah's journey to the rose bowl. great work and through tough situations. would definitely be cool to see them do it again.

 

How bout those trail cameras though

Moving here from. Texas utah has some weird hunting rules, as well as weird alcohol rules lol back home in texas you can hunt from a deer blind, drinking beer , using an ar15, 100 yards from your corn feeder in the spot in which your trail cam found deer lmao

That and rifle season is something like a month plus long

I get why people are upset, but i've never used them and have filled many tags but I don't agree with banning them.

 

Maybe some lawmaker got caught on a trailcam doing his personal assistant. Sometimes the assumed reasoning is not the whole story.

Well looks like the West Jordan police got a new undercover rig. Black 3rd gen lifted Tacoma with roof rack and lights. I had to do a double check

 

They're using it after they seized it for not having mud flaps or front license plate

 

I've wondered into the woods a few times to discover a camera or two at an inconvenient time, it can be frustrating

 

A clear breach of the the 4th and 5th Amendments. Law seems a little variable for law enforcement.

 

Are you guys for real or just bullshitting?

 

Some progress on my headlight project.

I scanned my driver side headlight with my xbox 360 kinect. I then opened up the .stl file in blender and deleted points that I didn't need. I then imported the .stl into solidworks to start the part build.

I spent about 4 hrs today doing some solidworks modeling of what I think the assembly will look like. I also went down the rabbit hole of 7" LED headlights that are DOT/ SAE approved. I think I will have $1000 of lights into this project. Remember it costs $$$ to have lights DOT/ SAE approved. J.W Speaker has some decent lights that have this qualification. I still need to find a side marker light that fits this design.

Some thoughts:
- I think I need a dedicated turn signal. I don't think I can have a head light with the turn signal integrated. I was looking at some vehicle code requirements and I think they need to have separation of at least 100mm or ~4". J.W speaker sells a 7" headlight that has the turn signal integrated. I think this might be somewhat illegal.

- The headlight itself has so many curves, I think it will take me many test prints to get to the final design.
- I can see why this hasn't been done before.
- Part of this design will require a headlight bucket to be integrated. I can buy this from JW speaker. This will allow me to adjust the headlights.
- The overall design will have to be split in half in order for me to print this. I will have to incorporate alignment pins for final assembly.


The headlight assembly has about 6 specific points that need to be 'exact' in order to fit in my 2011. I basically have to build around the imported mesh in order to get the right contours. This is somewhat challenging from a CAD persepective but its doable.
