LOL. It was the GMC version of a suburban. There were six of us in it. It was a big sob, but drove like wet dream.

Found the issue. One of my ring gear bolts backed out and that is what punctured my rear diff housing..

I have probably 5 loose bolts on my ring gear. I am not sure if I should send this in to ECGS or just put a new ring gear bolt in and re torque the bolts. The gears look like they are in decent shape.

The bolt next to the one that backed out is visibly loose. This could have exploded my rear end.. at least I can weld on a new cover and salvage my axle housing.

So I ended up dropping my third member off at Agility Customs. After speaking with Geoff, the best plan is to just do a new install of 4:56 ring/ pinion, bearings and inspection.

The pinion 'plunge' had a lot of play so it probably needs new bearings along with a new preload. The bad part about that is that he can't guarantee the gear mesh. I figured might as well do it 'right' instead of kicking the can down the road where it might leave me stranded.

I would have too, but my wife would ask why I cheaped out on this fix when were walking back to civilization after a complete failure. Haha

I think you did the right thing. This isn’t something to mess around with, when you spend a fair amount time in the backcountry.

I like what I see from Agility Customs.

First time at that shop but not hearing about agility customs. I was impressed by the amount of vehicles currently in the shop. Mainly jeeps and a couple rock buggies. Geoff was working on a 60 or 70 series imported ute truck. They just need a little more seating and displays in the front lobby and they will look like a big business.

Whats the story with your truck? Did you need a new head gasket? Sorry if you mentioned this a while ago. I have been out of country for a month.

i think it was a loose spark plug. i still suspect a head gasket leak. I took every plug out and looked inside every cylinder and one of them was very much tooooo clean at the time. will double check here pretty soon after a few thousand miles on it. but I tightened every plug again with proper lubricants and stuff and everythign seemed to be happy again.

Can somebody remind me where the "good place" to get an alignment done at is? Some place in Sandy...if I recall correctly.

I just got mine back from State Automotive. I've got fixed lower control arm bolts and adjustable upper ball joints. They did a great job in spite of the aftermarket options.
