Came across a guy restocking one of these behemoths at Macey's yesterday. Global Expedition Vehicles "Survival Basics". The irony of the name alone

Didn't take pics of his, but it was a sweet setup for a fulltime traveller.

I am not sure. It is 100% better when it comes to dog hair and bits of dirt. Since it is black, any dirt is easily seen. I wish it was offered in gray. When I was driving back from Idaho, I did notice that it was hotter in the truck. The new flooring does have insulation under it (factory cut) but I don't think it is as good as the carpet from an R-value/ insulation standpoint also since it is black.. It is hard to judge since it was 100+° out.

I spent the entire day driving the Skyline Drive. It's supposed to be 87 miles long and we put 130ish on the truck once we got off pavement. So 87 as the crow flies, apparently. A lot was nice, maintained gravel but there were a few places that were pretty dicey. Four wheel drive to be safe... and some places where the road was very narrow and huge, steep, drop-offs. The entire road was very close to tree-line. so around 11/12K elevation.

Hows the rain been up there in the SE parts? Were heading to The Maze Sept 15. When I went through the Swell back in July there was some good rains and washouts in the swell. I'm just wondering how its gonna be back in The Maze. If SE Utah has been getting rain like we have in N AZ. We have quite a bit of washouts and flooding daily right now.
Trying to get ahold of the rangers at Hans Flat is like trying to roll snake eyes with a 20D dice.

I would expect a lot of washouts. We were in monticello and went down into canyonlands and there was a lot of water. The rangers are probably out checking roads etc. And it looks like that area is going to get more rain this weekend as well.

Yeah sounds about right. I would expect some areas south too maybe close to bluff might have some good washouts. If you head out there just be careful and plan on getting stuck or have to turn around in some spots, that stuff is not fun to try and get out of when wet speaking from experience :anonymous:

We've done a few. We're long past due for another one though.

The Bohemian meetup was good, but since the weather is getting nice again, we may have to plan a camp/play trip to a place with some dirt.

Let's do it! I've scouted a bunch of camping locations along the Pony Express Trail west of Faust.
