You can poach Observation Point from the east side of Zion off of North Fork Road instead of fighting crowds in the valley. Probably best view in the park and if you hit the trail early, you can have the view to yourself for a bit. If the weather is good and the road is dry, you can take North Fork Road all the way from Zion to Navajo Lake/Duck Creek.

Everyone knows about Matt’s Off-road Recovery, but there is also Casey’s ORR and SG3. Depending on where your travels take you, there is also Bryce Canyon ORR out of Panguitch.

There are a couple of Facebook groups for hiking and biking, but most of the info comes from tourists and is hit or miss.

He sold that JT recently. Put probably 40k into it and sold it for about $58k. People who mod the shit out of their vehicles find out the hard way it doesn’t add value. Then next guy often walks away with a screaming deal.

Matt's Offroad Recovery is a good option for down there. Yes, it's the youtube guy.

For MTB, highly recommend Gooseberry Mesa, Wire Mesa and Guacamole. Other good ones I can think of are Suicidal Tendencies and the JEM trails. I think I'm free parts of that week, maybe I'll shoot you a PM closer to your visit and see if I can meet up for a MTB ride. It's been a minute since I've been down there.

Ditto this. Great options what he's mentioned. Or go to church rocks, barrel, Zen, paradise rim for more MTB options.

Let me also add the MTB trails around Brian Head and Cedar City…my favorite ride this past year was the Virgin River rim trail.

Another disappointing outcome. It just didn’t seem like they wanted it.

It's a bummer. Then to watch Demar Hamlin in the Bills game gives life some perspective.

The blind spot in the FJ's isn't bad, you get used to it. You just get some blind spot mirrors to put on your side mirrors and you're good to go. I'm getting another FJ in a heart beat once I find the one i'm looking for. Excellent vehicles, dependable, fun to drive, and are fantastic off road in my experience. But i'm biased having had a couple of them already lol

Forgot to add the picture. It’s a place to mount different things. There are lots of pouches and other organization things. You could easily mount a fire extinguisher or you hoses for airing up. I thought it would be nice for easy access but never got around to installing it.

So took the jeep down to Moab last weekend. Here are my thoughts.

The truck is awesome on the highway. The longer wheelbase really smooths out the drive. I managed to get 18-19mpg on the way to moab and we rolled onto 20 on the way back.

Took the heep on that dirt road off of the Floy exit. Was gunna go explore some of the areas off the road but then decided to go do that eye of the whale trail and then onto tower arch.

Scraped the belly on one extreme ledge but it wasn't an issue. On Saturday we went over to top of the world. Made it to the first big ledge and decided to call it since it was just the wife and I and the doggos. The ledges were covered in ice and snow and I wanted to get a full belly skid before attempting this. The ledges seem taller than when I did it in 2019.

Wheeling the jeep is actually easier than my Tacoma. The truck feels nimble compared to my taco with the long travel. It is also easier to see where my front tires are. I have been wheeling in a manual transmission for the past 15 years. It's kinda nice having the auto. Using the manual function in 4lo is awesome.

One thing that I need to get used to is watching my 4hi speed. The jeep doesn't have much up travel and the auto sway bar connect needs to be adjusted to 30mph. It's set at 18mph which makes things annoying when traveling in 4hi on a relatively smooth dirt road.

I am guessing I can get more up travel if I eventually add a lift. I think hydro bumps would also be a nice addition.

Another thing I need to make for the JT are some front mud flaps. Mud plasters the side of the truck. I am surprised it didn't come with something..

Sequential shifting is the bomb in 4-lo. One of the best features in the 3G Taco. I thought I would miss having a manual for off-roading, but the sequential shifting makes up for it.

How does the sway bar work on the Jeep? Can’t you press a button and disconnect it? I think the bronco has something similar. I don’t even notice that my sway bar was removed anymore.
