I posted these pics over on the new members forum to show off my truck (just joined last night). bought her in late august of last year and bought it for one reason... wanted something I could haul stuff from the house to fort bliss with, and be a commuter that will last forever. I had a 2011 TRD sport package 6cyl 4x4 that I bought while I was home on leave from Afghanistan and sold it to my dad and bought an Audi (terrible decision I regret). last year, I decided I had to get another tacoma. dad still drives the silver one I sold him and loves it. originally from East Tennessee, he takes it up to our cabin and uses its off-road capabilities far more than I ever did. thus, I went cheap mode and decided to get a bare bones truck.

I knew I wanted a new tacoma, but when I started looking, I couldn't believe they were like 35k+. (I bought my 2011 tacoma in Atlanta after flying in from Bagram Airfield (the dealer picked me up from the airport while on mid-tour leave haha)

so I started looking for the cheapest model and found the utility package. wife and I dont have any kids and no one will ever ride in the back, so I had no need for the rear seats. so, I plunged for the utility package you see here. I bought it in the state of Kentucky and was stationed there at the time, so I was tax exempt and also got 2,000 off the MSRP (a grand because I financed with Toyota financial, and another grand because I was "active military). BLUF: I got this truck for under $20,000 with an interest rate of 2.9%. I saw it as a win-win. yea, it might not be as nice as 99% of everyone else's tacos on the forum here, but for me, its a new tacoma that looks great and will last forever.

I would be happy to talk more with anyone looking at buying one of the utility package model Tacomas, if anyone is interested. I am also open to hearing suggestions on what I should do to the truck to make it even better. its kinda becoming my hobby to work on it and do new things to it. I am not going to trade it or sell it. ever. this is one I will keep and pass on to my son someday, as I wouldn't get much for it vs how much it would serve me or whomever is driving it at that point.

glad to be on the forum! makes me miss the days in the 90s when I had AOL and the only way to talk about hobbies or join hobby forums was to be on the good old-fashioned message boards. glad to see this one is alive and well! look forward to learning from all of you!

That would be a great truck to lower 3 inches add some wider wheels, rear sway bar and a supercharger!

    That's a great deal!

Like you, I don't care for a bunch of gee-whiz stuff. I even have less lug nuts.

    Welcome.

Cali Raised 32" behind the grill mounted light bar, Southern Style Offroad Lopro front bumper with Warn 8k winch and 30' built in light bar. Cosmetic goodies such as 15% carbon tint, matte black rain guards, interior LED's, Inferno vinyl detailing on the interior, Cali Raised multi rocker switch cubby insert with Mc Tuning LED switches and a few other mods I've probably left out.
Nice truck my friend and as long as it serves the purposes in which you intended then all the fancy stuff means nothing. I do find it interesting Toyota decided to go black interior with cream colored seats. As a "utility" vehicle I second the notion of getting the Clazzio seat covers. Cloth is useless and difficult to keep clean. Not to mention any liquid spilled goes right to the inner foam which will NEVER come out. But then as a detailer that's just how my mind works lol. Nice truck now get those seat covers :thumbsup:

Did someone say Clazzio? Shameless plug and pic of my recently installed covers.

see I think the cloth looks way nicer than a pleather that I thought would come on a utility truck.....
