It might not be the nicest truck around, might not have 4x4, and might have an unpainted front bumper, but it's mine. I could go into a paragraph about why I got this, and I'm sure the entire internet will tell me how stupid I was to buy a 4x2 Tacoma, but I don't care.

    Here's my build.

2022 Tacoma SR 2wd w/ Utility Package. OWN IT FREE AND CLEAR!

Picked it up on Thanksgiving 2023. Pre-owned, 4000 miles on the dot when I got it. Currently sitting just under 15k. In its previous life, it was a fleet vehicle. Not sure if it was a rental, or used as something else. My gut tells me it was used as an extermination vehicle or something because it does appear it had a bed cap on it at some point since the gaps in the bed are sealed with butyl, and I know a lot of the termite companies use small trucks like this.

Started with tire rotation, oil change, oil filter, cabin air filter, and engine air filter. The previous owner also had the door sills rubbed down to bare metal. After looking online, it appears to be a common issue with Tacomas. I did confirm my VIN was not affected by the Super White paint chipping issue, and this appears to have just been caused by boot wear. I bought some touch-up paint from Amazon, went to work on it, and protected it with the clear coat and OEM door sill protectors.

The second mod was a set of Husky Floor mats. They are awesome. Used Weathertech in the past, but they tend to curl over after a while and the Husky ones cover behind the pedal area too which is nice in the winter.

The third mod was an Etsy 3d printed coin holder.

The fourth mod was a black-out emblem for my steering wheel, from YodaXpedition.

The next mod was a Course Performance "MagSafe" phone mount. It's really strong and mounts behind the radio trim, bolted into the radio bracket. Highly recommend.

My next couple purchases I won't be able to install until spring (or when I'm due for an oil change). My girlfriend got me some Tailgate Emblems from EyeCatcher, really nice high-quality 3d ones, not cheap decals. She knows me well and got me the American flag ones. I also purchased myself a Fumoto drain valve, used them on my other vehicles and love them.

I also got the truck Fluid Filmed the day after I brought it home, I live in Michigan and we get salt in the winter.

The big mod I just did was some Method 703 wheels (17x8.5 +0), in Matte Black, with some Toyo Open Country AT3's (265/70/17). Also getting the front windshield tinted 35% and side windows 35% as well as rear 5% in a couple days. I'll be sure to post an updated pic.

Congrats on the truck. You are off to a great start! Love your enthusiasm and happiness with your truck. I love the basic Tacoma as well. My 2020 sport was a splurge and a bit of early retirement gift to myself. My white paint seems to be good so far too. Quite a bit of door sill wear for a 2022. I guess work boots in and out started to wear that area quick. Not unusual tho. Enjoy!

Forgot to post a picture of the emblem! Since mine was the utility package, it came with a lot of the trim blacked out already, but the steering wheel emblem was still chrome. Got this from YodaXpedition, it was on backorder for about 30 days but worth the wait!

White Utility Package is the coolest. Always thought these looked best with a nice set of wheels/tires.

Nice truck, looks really good. I want to do tints too but this MI weather bouncing around has me feeling like I should wait til spring. Let us know if you have any issues with the fresh tint and cold

Won't be a bad idea, the offset sits perfect but that little bit of poke does throw some dirt up.

Thanks man. I'm in MI too, tint should be fine, just gotta wait extra longer to roll the windows down. Luckily I work from home, plan to just let the truck sit over the weekend.

The transformation of this truck from fleet to what you've done with it is just awesome! Love that stance.

Great looking ride. It’s crazy how a set of wheels and tires completely transform a truck. Those tires look beefy too.

I know it's an old thread, but sweet setup for that truck. I have the same truck, bought 12/23 with 28k miles on it, previous fleet vehicle. I haven't done much with it due to life until now. I don't have it lifted but I did upgrade to 265/75/r16 General Grabber A/TX tires. I'll be doing the tint next. I love the blackout on the emblem. I'll be going on tomorrow and seeing if I can get that. I love my truck but kind of thought it was "just a..." since it's not 4x4, it's utility package, etc. Threads like this are great. It may be just... but it's a tough little truck and with the right care can definitely hold it's own!
