Yup. Worked at a bike shop the better part of my life. Full time aerospace welder now. Metals don't lie and each have a set of rules to go by.

I was just looking at a '16 GMC Canyon two nights ago. It was black and in very nice shape. The thin steel bed had no dents but was full of thin , maybe 1/8" wide scratches that went to the primer at least. It didn't look like the previous owner used it for much of anything. Now you will say "add a bed liner" .How much extra do they cost? They are also thin plastic. My truck has only an oem bed mat. I have carried gravel, hay, mulch, machinery, engines, argon and O2 cylinders, steel, lumber, plywood, a jet ski, a wood stove,a full size drill press, fencing, logs, branches, Shrubs and small trees, scrap metal, firewood, kayaks.... you get the idea. If I worry about something hitting the back of the bed I put a piece off wood there. No problems at all. I strap things to the bed "D" rings and I have a steel tailgate re-enforcing plate and a bed extender when needed. I can't see the downside of the composite bed. Strong, quiet, rust free, what else could you want in a light duty truck, besides good stake pockets that is. The Canyon had those but no floor "D" rings.

Then it would match the big unicorn decal on the tailgate. :spy:
