It's probably cut by now but we had to detour around it

My picture ended up on the Uwharrie OHV Fam facebook page. I'm sure it is cut by now being the major thoroughfare to the trails.

Yall ever find what you were missing?

I posted this over in the Tennessee forum but figured some of you guys had been there before as well. but I have heard there are my kind of trails/roads there for a true beginner to off-roading? nothing that would risk me getting my truck messed up or anything. just something to get my feet wet in the off road department. thanks guys! you all have been a big help to me and I appreciate it!

so, I have never off-roaded before. I am from NC but head up to Windrock some for our daughter to race mountain bikes. we are coming up pretty soon again and I would love to find some easy trails/roads to try out in my Tacoma. I am completely new to this sort of thing so rock features are completely out for me. I wouldn't want to drive on very tight/narrow trails where trees could come into contact with my truck either. I don't mind it getting dirty, but scratched and dented up is not something I want to happen to it. I know, that might be me being picky, but this is my daily driver and I don't want it messed up. are there "easy" gravel road type stuff there that would be good for a stock suspension TRD Sport 4wd with Nitto Terra Grapplers? thanks in advance!

But in all seriousness, on any trail in the place I am pretty sure some tree limbs will rub against your truck.

Go to URE and start on Wolf Den.

Otherwise a “gravel road type stuff” isn’t off roading. It’s a gravel road.

It seems like if you don't want a scratch on your truck then you shouldn't take it off paved roads.

I'm not saying offroading is going out driving through trees and rubbing against rocks... Well at least to all of us  .... But you have to be ok with a scratch if it happens.

Nitto Terra Grapplers love to pick up rocks and chunk them into tje rockers chipping the paint. If you are concerned about dings, dents, scratches you may want to avoid the gravel.

I had terra grapps on my Titan & Taco and they both had the same issue. You would start driving and start hearing the “ding ding” as the rocks started flying off the threads.

    Something to keep in mind

Just mentioned this route in another thread earlier..take Old NC 105 from Lake James to Linville Falls. If you like that, then try Uwharrie. It is 13.5 miles. It is wide open, has some nice views, and an easy place to turn your gear oil!
Hit Uwharrie in the spring, may be a little wet this final weekend..

If you want to get your feet wet there are some trails in the western part of NC. Chestnut mountain, hurricane Creek, and a few others that are stock truck, cruise the woods type trails. That's where I started and I'll say it was a benefit to start with the easier stuff to learn my truck and all that.

Checkout some of the links in my signature.
