Uwharrie National Forest " URE " permanent thread

Cool deal! I may go and camp with the pup for the weekend haven't really decided on my plans yet.

What time is this happening?

 

Hunting? I was up there this past weekend with my scout troop.

 

Nope, Hammock Camping. It's nice and open with LOTs of trees!! Also room for trucks and RTTs. There are usually some hunters there, we try not to disturb them late at night.

 

Get there early Fri. We had a difficult time finding a spot with all the hunters. That and 2 of them had campers there and ran a damn generator all night long . We ended up in the spot to the left right before the entrance to yates place. We had to have enough room for 5 vehicles and a big 4500 conversion bus with a 24' enclosed trailer. And there was still more parking available. Hunting season out at yates place gathers all the hunters since some of the game lands are right down the road. Even though the majority of the game lands are N.

 

Yea we have people that get there early. Since we're in hammocks as long as there is a place for us to park we will hike back in the woods and you won't hardly know we're there. There is a road that goes back in if you go down into the parking lot further too.

 

Yeah I know I drove down there until I started weeing the game lands plaques. Our problem was having space for the big ol' bus and trailer to turn around or park. I tried the hammock thing I don't see how people are comfortable but I'm a side sleeper.

 

I love it, I normally sleep on my stomach in my bed. If hung correctly you can sleep in all sorts of positions, correctly being relative to most but there is an ideal way with lots of science involved.

 

Yeah that in lies my problem no patience to continually muck with them to find something comfortable when I can just throw my nice pad down and bag and bam done! Back problems and other injuries kill me

 

Which day ya goin out?

 

Getting there Fri evening leaving Sunday

 

I'm gonna see about coming out for a day this weekend

 

Absolutely Saturday, and can camp. Just unsure what time Saturday. Slight possibility for Friday- pending my existing obligation.

 

I may not be able to make it out until sat afternoon still waiting to hear if I need to help move some concrete counter tops

What are the plans for the weekend. Is sun going to be just a break camp and headout? Wheeling sat? I won't be able to make it until sat afternoon probably around 2-3

 

planning to arrive mid AM Saturday- will being stuff to camp.

If you post here or PM when you plan to be at the Outpost, mebbe we can meet you, etc.
