Well...the Clubs are all Jeep Clubs...at least Mid State Toyota and OEX are going to be present...OEX is a given since they have a training area there.

I've never been to Uwharrie NF and had some quick questions and thoughts about the OHV section of the NF.

UNF is about 50000 acres with what looks like 8% being devoted to the ohv trails. Looking at the map, it appears all the trails are in a pretty compact area. As far as I know, there are not any places like it anywhere nearby.

How busy was it this past year? YT videos make it look like a perpetual redneck jamboree.
How trashed is it? Physical trash and environmental destruction.
I would visit on a weekday. Which part of the season (April - October) would it be less busy?

weekdays are generally dead out there. good to go. Some weekends are packed, some are dead. hit or miss. make sure you can self recover, due to the low weekday traffic, might not have a passerby for a while, if ever. not a lot of trouble spots, but you never know. Not to trashed out there, I see beer containers strewn around and I hate it, but its there. They have been crackling down on drinking in the park, and guys drink and chuck, to get rid of evidence I guess.

There are volunteer workdays to put up guardrails to try to keep the fools on path.. But you know how that goes. They also grade trails when needed and pickup trash. Most of the YouTube videos probably come from the jeep jamboree weekends, and jeep club rides, I. E. Major redneck fests. Come out for a ride with us or on your own, if it's too busy try another day/week.

There is trash but if you pick it up as you ride then it helps keep the trails nicer. But it's like that at pretty much all state & natl parks these days people are nasty!

What @JimboAnz and @Sandman614 said are spot on!

I've only gone during the week days, late season. Pretty quiet out there which made for a peaceful getaway. Didn't see any tacos, but did see a really nice 4runner pro and an OR doing some fun stuff.

Compared to some other places I've seen, I'd say it's relatively clean.

I'm looking forward to getting out there, maybe not opening weekend since it'll be my first time, but will definitely join a TW trail day.

Got a little range time yesterday. The hammock group has a surprising amount of guns. This one was a SCAR 17 .308. Also got my 2018 trail pass, and double checked March 30th is opening day.

That's typical for a public range. Cool might have to check it out next time I am down there.

Hello all, stopping in to say hey and find out some info about stuff to do in the area. I made a thread to compile the info for easier searching later. I will be vacationing in the Chimney Rock area from June 15-20 and then in Uwharrie from 20-24. So far we have Chimney Rock park, Biltmore and Mount Mitchell planned with the obvious offroad in Uhwarrie and a day or evening in Charlotte. My wife and 3 year old daughter will be with me. Nothing is set in stone yet besides the dates in those areas. IF you could please click the link below and add some info on good food, local hangouts, stuff we have to do, hikes, waterfalls or anything else you think we should do or see. Thank you

Here is the thread I made https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ney-rock-6-15-20-and-uwharrie-6-20-24.538246/
