Haven't been anywhere since I got back from the deployment. I can use this as an excuse to be by b-day present too. You're the only yank I've met from here.

No, it's not a good comparison at all. Ill leave it at that.

In this instance saying anything else would offend one of them :D

They are both "special" in their own ways

beer on tap in a gas station...:woot:

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- What was once only available in New York has now made it's way to the Lowcountry -- beer on tap at a convenience store.

Running down to the store for a beer usually meant grabbing a six pack of Miller Lite from the cooler, but now there's a selection for the more refined beer enthusiast.

The Sunoco at the corner of Saint James Avenue and Brandywine Boulevard is the first location outside of New York state to offer the craft beer option.

"We have decided to expand the Craft Beer Exchange to South Carolina based on the success we have had in multiple New York markets over the last six months," said Wendy Lyman, Sunoco's beverage category manager. "The Charleston market presents an excellent platform to expand the Craft Beer Exchange at APlus because of our current assets, market density in the region, excellent employees, and a local customer base that enjoys craft beer."

Twelve rotating local and hard to find beers are available "to go" in 64-ounce growlers.

Beer "on tap" at a gas station may have you worried that little Timmy will get more than root beer in his Big Gulp, but that's not the case. All of the taps are locked and only Sunoco employees can access them.

Getting your growler on is still an easy process. Once proof of legal age is checked, a growler is rinsed and a tube is inserted into the tap at one end -- the Growler at the other.
    Why the tube?

"It's amazing," says Sunoco manager Michelle Hazeres. "We place the tube against the wall of the container and there's almost no foam at all. It's almost no different from getting a beer from the beer cooler."

After it's filled, the growler is sealed with a special label that is marked with the name of the beer. The cap underneath the label is just a screw cap, so once you tear the label, just like popping the seal on any other beer bottle, your growler could be considered an open container.

The price of your growler depends on what kind of beer you fill it with. Prices range from $9.99 to $14.99 per 64-ounce container. For a limited time, you can get a free growler bottle with the purchase of a growler fill.

For under 20 dollars there's also a gift pack available that contains one growler, two pint glasses and a pack of coasters.

If you're looking for a little variety in your craft beer experience, you can also create your own six packs from a selection of 12-ounce single bottles.

Selections change seasonally and include craft beers from microbreweries such as Holy City, Sweetwater, Allagash, Abita, Dogfish Head, Victory, New Belgium and Palmetto.

Taps available at the St. James Avenue Sunoco include:

    • Abita Turbodog from Abita Springs, LA
    • Allagash White from Portland, ME
    • Dogfish Head 90 Minutes IPA from Milton, DE
    • Holy City Pluff Mud Porter from North Charleston, SC
    • Magic Hat #9 from Burlington, VT
    • New Belgium Dig from Fort Collins, CO
    • Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale from Lyons, CO
    • Palmetto Amber Ale from Charleston ,SC
    • Sam Adams Alpine Spring from Boston, MA
    • Southern Tier 2X IPA from Lakewood, NY
    • SweetWater 420 Extra Pale Ale from Atlanta, GA
    • SweetWater Blue from Atlanta, GA

Other locations are to follow, with three more already listed on the Craft Beer Exchange locations page with identical tap lists:

    • 1519 Red Bank Road in Goose Creek
    • 600 Bacons Bridge Road in Summerville
    • 336 College Park Road in Ladson
