I traded my 4.0 V6 2011 base double cab 4x4 three weeks ago, drove it 9.5 years. Absolutely loved it......

    Bought a 2020 V6 Double cab SR 4x4.......
The v6 and transmission are terrible on the new truck, wish I had my old one back now. I won’t have the 2020 9.5 years, guaranteed.

    Give it time.

Go slow at first, but don’t be afraid to use the skinny pedal- this truck likes high rpm’s and will really scoot if you ask nicely

Correct, thats why i never understood the complaint. If anything the 3rd gen makes up for it in the top end.

Just takes a little time to adjust to it, I had two 2nd Gens before this one and it felt weird at first for me too.

No, fuck that stupid motor. Keep your 2.7L and turbo it. Lots of room in the engine bay and that will drive laps around the 3.5L. And bet you better mpg. I drove my uncle’s access cab 4x4 TRDOR and man oh man what a steaming pile of dog shit. Nice package though but nooooo thanks

I guess out of the over one million 3rd gens sold a few might have been less than perfect, but don’t believe what you see on TW.

To the members talking about how bad the 3rd gen is- get a life people...89CB8182-B22E-475B-9616-98E76C20D1BF.jpg

I mean its not a direct comparison, but i just went from a 05 4.3 V6 RCSB Silverado to a ‘16 2.7 ACLB and i honestly think the little 4 banger is quicker....the weight of the two are pretty comparable too. Maybe i’m crazy

I ioved my 2001 tundra 4.7...had decent power right from the bottom to top, but if a long run this 2020 3.5 taco will smoke it on top. Its goes if you tell it to.

Well the Tundra is heavier so guess that isnt a surprise. I am sure the torque on the V8 is much better.....and of course the sound. The 13mpg around town is the biggest negative. I see why they are going Turbo V6 on the new ones. No way they will last as long though. I wouldnt even look at an EcoBoost Ford for that.reason. Well the new 10 speed and aluminum bodies on the F150 drove me away from them even faster.

Too bad the Ecoboost will probably blow up in less than half the time of the Toyota engine. I see why they sell so well. Probably a good choice if you will be buying new and trading the truck within 5 years. I wouldn't want to be the guy with a 10 year old Ecoboost with 200k on it though.....
