I'd have to see that to believe it. Mine stock does about 19 on the interstate with summer mix. However I have not gotten good data on 2-lane 55 mph yet. I expect it to do 20 mpg there.

Get around 14.5-14.8 with the 250+ lbs of tools and gear that's always in the back and a Leer 700 cap. If I lead foot it I get 13-13.5

    Vantage, I'm with ya. I sold my 2010 V6, 6spd, drove it like a princess and got 14.7mgp, Feully.com

    http://www.fuelly.com/car/toyota/tacoma/2010/fishintaco/59075

One time I was in 4x4, hauling a trailer and two little sleds (skidoo tundras) and I didn't get 250 kilometers out of a tank. No excuse for that. I sold it and went back to a 2002, trd, V6, 5spd Now get anywhere from 18 to 20mpg.

Those 2nd Gen standards really love the gas.

2009 TRD access cab with 36k on it. Best I ever got was 15.6mpg in mixed rural driving. A real disappointment as my full size Chevy averaged 18-22mpg in the same conditions.

I will side with savedone on this. The best I ever got driving 100% highway cross country while running 94octane was 23-24mpg.

I'm averaging 14.8. It's not corrected for the tires though. Soooo, maybe 15 and change.

I would have kept my 2010 if it got 20mpg....although that transmittion was clumbsy and clunky compared to earlier tacos.

I still have a hard time believeing 20 though, and I tried hard. I had a lear on, and 265/75-16's, BF Ko's. NOt that I don't believe, but I know my truck couldn't have done it. Seems to be a lot of variance in mpg's, and not all attributed to a lead foot.

    my 2cents!

2011 V6 manual Access Cab 4x4 TRD Offroad...never ever broke 20 mpg. Best ever was 19.x mpg. Typically 17-18 mpg. Lots of 60-65 mph highway driving too. New 2015 DC V6 Auto 4x4 TRD Offroad auto is averaging 19.x mpg with the same commute. Expect to break 20 mpg easily on a road trip.

This chart shows the mileage I've logged with my 2014 Access cab 6 speed since I bought it in August of 2014. Note the average is 19.2 mpg and slightly increasing for that time frame. As you can see I'm a little OCD with regard to statistics.

It's primarily freeway driving and crawling around in the sticks. In other words, very little stop & go city driving. If I'm not pulling hard or in a big hurry, I generally upshift at 1750-2000 rpm and downshift at 1500 or 1250. This is with E10 gas. I'm currently logging data for E0 unadulterated gas.

    it REALLY depends on speed.

2 weeks ago i did a 700mi round trip to mammoth and back. Very conservative driving, using the "roll with the hills" method.... I averaged 65mph but let the truck dip to 60 on uphills and up to 75 on the downhills. This was from sealevel to 8000ft and back. Total round trip mpg = 20.98 (this is with a 2in lift, and bigger tires)

Just this past thursday and friday i did the same trip... but said fuck it, and cruised at 80 constantly (had to get fresh lines in the snow mang).... MPG = 16.38

haha, it really depends on the weight of your right foot. Mine is made of lead.

So how does switching to a truck that gets 2.1 mpg better than the previous one make financial sense when you paid sales tax on two new-ish Tacomas in 2.5 years?

Or just get an auto. I average about 4 more mpgs with my auto than the 6 speed I had. In the summer I get about 22 on the highway.
