I just recently went from Calgary to Invermere and back and had just a tiny bit left in the tank. Its roughly 270 each way so 540. Thats a little mountain driving but with a stock truck.

Last tank on 87 octane, 528 to the empty light. Put in 71.97 L for 569.9 km. 12.62 L/100, 22.37 m/g or 7.91 km/L; guessing about half is highway travel @ 100km/h. Either my guage is off or didn't notice the E light for a bit, but the numbers don't match for the last bit of the tank.

I see you have an offroad so pretty sure it's a manual tranny. Look back in the thread & you'll see the manual's aren't getting the mileage of the auto's. Lower gear ratio is killing your mileage. If I let my tach run over 2000 my mileage drops off like a rock. Packing extra weight has the same effect. I don't know if you're running stock tire size, if not there is a link farther back that will give you the correction & give you a more accurate #'s.

12.62 L/100km is 18.64 MPG. There is 3.785412 L in a US gallon. The only place I've seen MPG in imperial gallons is at dealerships, to make the fuel economy look better than it is.

best I've done on the highway was 585km on 65L --> 11.1 L/100km (21.2 MPG), or 720 km if I were to run it dry.

yes I have an off road, but its automatic tranny. I'm running 265/75/R16 Bfg At's (summer) and I have Billies all around with the fron set at .85, rear leaf tsb.
As mentioned, I have been trying to drive like grampa, and I even shut the truck off if I am at a long light. I've read many say to keep the revs below 2k...which is fine on side streets, but in my truck, revs at 2k will slowly get me up to 80kms per hour...not fast enough for the highway. I don't understand how my slightly larger tires can result in such a disparity in mpg's from other tacos. I have even tried keeping revs to 2.5k max, which gets me close to hwy speed of barely 100km per hour.
I have cleaned mky AFE pro dry filter that lives on my K&N CAI, newish plugs, just changed my oil, (which has been analyzed by Blackstone Labs, Castrol Syntek Ow30 german, ((only available in the single litre jugs)) which tested better than the popular Mobil1)
Some people on here are pushing 600 km per tank! I have yet to pull off a 500km tank, even when I've made a cottage run with a light load and no trailer...so 250 kms round trip as all hwy...sigh

That is odd, I have the same truck, same tire size (but mine are crappy Nokian Vatiiva's) and with the added weight of a cap. I can pretty easily pull 540k's out of my tank. Light is on a bit before I get to refill but I can only get 70-something liters in the tank till it's full, I haven't done the math with my mileage numbers (and am a bit skittish of running it completely dry somewhere) but my guess is 600km's would be doable, but not by much.

    Last tank: 480km from full to light-on, mixed city/hwy, 87 octane w/10%ethanol.
Drove another 35-40 km before filling up tonight with 91 octane 0%ethanol. We'll see how this goes...

just filled up last night...87 octane...put in 63 litres of gas, light wasn't on yet but it was close to E, and I had only traveled 425 kms.
I input the numbers in fuelly.com, it said 15L per 100km's...which works out to 15.68mpg's...brutal

tried to paste the graph from fuelly for V6 tacomas...can't figure out how to paste it...it's not working.
Anyways, for V^ tacomas, average is 12.0L/100km's...I'm at 15ish...or at today's prices, about 3.75$ more per 100 klicks, 15-20 bucks per tank...most on this thread are reporting upwards of 550 km per tank.
I would say my truck is way below average...not "slightly".

Tombiosis, I was the worst 2010 listed on Fuelly.com, that truck still may be. I tried everything, until it just made me too sick...and broke. I hauled 2 sleds last year, in minus 30, I only got just slightly over 250km out of one tank. Thats when I started tracking on Fuelly.com.

    Old truck....

That sucks. I'm getting 14L/100km or about 18-19mpg even with my lift, armour, tires and winch. Just passed the halfway mark today. 250kms-ish.

I might have kept it if that was the case....maybe. Right now, after a mild lift on my 02' I get 530 on a tank hwy and 450 in town. I think it's a 69L tank.

I know lots of folks with 2nd gens, and the mileage varies greatly, must be some major inconsistancies in construction somewhere along the line. It blows me away that mine was pretty much stock, just put on a canopy and 265 75 16's BF KO's, and I got avg 16L/100km, and some people with the same truck, and a lift etc.. were getting anywhere from 13 - 14L/100km?

That's what is making me wonder as well...as mentioned, I try to drive like grampa, but I guess I will never achieve the 500km tank...nevermind 600...:goingcrazy:
