Smart ass. I just turned it to on, not actually started.

Comes on when you have 4 gallons or less in the tank. You have that light, you probably just never got it that low before.

So there we go. Over 550kms to a tank and the liters put in to prove it. That puts my truck at 12.68L/100kms.

Nice report Krazie , at a 70 litre fill you still have approx 9 litres in the tank , you are definitely getting great mileage !

    OZ

PS where are you that you are paying approx $1 / litre for gas , we pay way more where I am .

That was in Airdrie Alberta, and I threw premium in. Regular is at 88.9 right now, but in Calgary where I live it's 92.9.

Doing 105km/h on the highway definately helps. :)

And as I said earlier, I do have an Airaid Shortram intake and a Borla Catback exhaust running 265x75R16 BFG A/T's. (heavy bastards)

I have kept track of every fill up since I bought my Taco v6 4x4 dclb in June 09. The best IMP MPG is 26-28 summer and 20 coldest winter with some 4x4 use. Never ran truck below 3/4 of a tank so no sure miles per tank.
Pulled two atv's in a single axle 6x12 trailer 800km and got 21 mpg. This is better than pulling same load with my old Z71 5.3 vortex or my 6.5 turbo diesel GMC when I had them.
I miss the room in a bigger truck but not the poor gas mileage.

Sorry, but I think you're messing up your conversion somewhere. I can't believe for a second that you're getting 700-800km tank with the V6.

What size tires do you have on there?

Krazie , I live on an island between the mainland and Vancouver Island and pay $ 1.20 for reg and $1.40 for premium , and the roads don't really allow you to run at 110k/hr for any stretch of time at all ,

Tires are stock 245/75/16. I fill the tank up until gas shuts off and then keep filling it until I have to pull nozzle back to keep filling, been doing this since day one. First few tanks I thought I was making a mistake in my calculations. I feather the gas pedal stay at 80-90km on hwy and try to keep revs at 1500-1800 hwy and 1200 city. My Taco is a US truck in MPH and litres are converted back to imp gallons. Then I divide the miles travelled by the number of gallons used since day one. I can break down every tank full since day one as I have kept a log from June 9/09. Best 26-28 all hwy down to 20 winter combined?
My friend drives a company Taco 4cyl auto 2 wheel drive and I beat him in mpg. I know what I spent driving to camp, around town, yote hunting with my old GM's and I love the mileage I get with this truck. Now if I were to drive it like my friend drives his company Taco I would probably get 20ish. I do not know how I could be making a mistake?

Shit, sorry to hear that. Your houses also cost half a million when here they are $300K. That's the price of coastal living. :p

Impressive. I can see why you get the mileage then. Your stock tires are also a little smaller than what the Speedo is actually set for but it wouldn't affect it that much.

The odometer on you truck is registering a minimum of 4% more distance than you are travelling. I have found that the Tacoma will get 26 imp mpg at a steady 80 - 90 km's with my more aggressive tires. So it is possible. It is however not even possible to get an average much over 20, with normal driving. (ie;110 - 120 kph highway).

I'm not understanding how all these Americans are saying they are getting 400 miles out of a tank. I get 400 km city (in the winter) but that is no where near 400 miles.

^^^^This I don't quite get either , which is why I started this thread in the first place because I figured I must have been screwing up the math . I get 525 - 550 km per tank , if it was to run dry , rural driving usually 60 - 80 kms for 20 mins at a time .

Most of the Canuck numbers are all pretty close to each other with the exception of Krazie the super mileage ( kilometrage ? ) man ,

    Hi,
This is probably not apples to apples as I have a '00 3.4L V6 but I was quite shocked by the low fuel economy. I guess I am just so used to the fuel economy from the Matrix and my motorcycles.
Anyhow, I have noticed a dramatic range depending on season and whether it is city or highway driving. I would not say I have a heavy foot except for occasions when it is warranted.
I've been running 31" Dunlops the last year and a half. With these tires at spec (sticker on inside of door) of 26 Front / 29 Rear, some recent observations:
All city stop and go in the winter (some 4x4 if snow): fuel light on at about 390km
Highway winter or summer can range from 475km to 550ish on a tank.

Well I just ran a little experiment, I had a set of 31x10.5x15s and put them on my 02 Taco 3.4l and I ran them for 1 tank and I got 490kms before the light came on, my daily runners are 265x75x16 and I barely get 400kms per tank.

During the winter I usually fill up when I'm around 1/2 a tank. My last 3 fill ups were around 37 litres. My driving is 60/40 for hwy/city. usually drive between 90-120 on highway.

    A) 263km/37.4L
    B) 262km/37.2L
    C) 257km/37.0L

    Total - 782km/111.6L

    560km/80L Tank

    7km/L

    100km/14.2L

I also have a tonneau cover, not sure if that helps or not.
