Between 17 and 18mpg city and about 19 hwy. Sometimes I can do 20 or even 21 hwy if I really try.

On the other hand I often do around 15mpg city in the winter months when temparature drops to -20C or -30C. Worst was 13.5 or so.

    07 DCSB 4x4 6MT
    Summer: 265/75/16 AT's
    Winter: 265/65/17 winter tires.

More info in my fuelly sig.

Dam, very active site. Thanks for all the info and quick replies. I had trucks for 10 years and had mileage worse than the current Tacoma's, then switched to a SUV with much better mileage and now the Tacoma is somewhere in the middle. Not expecting to get great mpg's, just trying to realistically prepare myself for what to expect and was somewhat confused why there were different MPG's listed on a few of the ads.
    Thanks!

Yes, the official mpgs change each year due to revised EPA measurement methods. With several Toyota models, you'll see the 2012 published numbers are better than 2011 or 2010 numbers by 1 or 2 mpg because Toyota re-tested with 0W20 synthetic oil.

For Tacos, mpgs also vary greatly with engine, body style, auto vs manual, and 4x4 vs 4x2. Take a look at the Toyota press kit for all the different mpg ratings:

    Best highway 19-20 mpg
    Typical highway 18 +/- mpg
    Typical mixed city/hwy 16.5 mpg
    City only 15 mpg

The truck hates starts and stops (city).

I do mostly city driving. Avg around 15-17 mpg. I try to avoid fast accelleration and coast when approaching stops. I've also used 87-93 octane and see no difference.

I drive mostly rush-hour highway. Avg mpg is spot on with the EPA city rating of 16 mpg for my truck's configuration.

Not a buttkicker for MPG's. I can't see more than 23-24 at steady highway speeds, getting 18-20 with mixed usage but the truck weighs about 4300 lbs with the topper. I had a '99 F150 4WD no topper with the Mustang 4.6L DOHC V8 and that got about 14 MPG around town, about 20 on the highway. That F150 weighed maybe 200 lbs more.

Click on the link below. I like to use fuelly and find someone who is consistent about entering their fillups. That is as "real world gas mileage" numbers as you are going to get.

Note if you get larger tires without re-gearing, the odometer reading will be less than actual. Be sure to account for this when calculating mpg.

If I keep it under 55 I can get 21.7 mpg. Once I hit the highway and go around 70 it drops down around 17. For mine it's all about the rpm range.
