Hey folks I'm in a tough spot. I live outside the US and have been waiting 3 weeks to get a new O2 sensor for my 2013 2.7l I4 Prerunner. The shipper sent me an O2 sensor for a V6. So my only option is to order another one and eat the sensor that was sent. The problem is the current sensor is causing me to lose power up hills or the engine shuts down. I've been soaking the O2 sensor in carb cleaner to get a bit more life out of it but another 3 weeks like that isn't ideal.

So the question is: what are the consequences of splicing the old harness with the new sensor? Will it just cause me to use more gas or will it be something more catastrophic? This is my only mode of transport and I need to work and I live extremely remote. I appreciate any input.

Are you talking about the O2 sensor or Air Fuel sensor?
Is it the one in front of the catalytic converter, or after the converter?

It would be the upper (above the catalytic converter).

That’s not one you want to ignore.
It directly affects fuel trims and delivery.
As for cutting and splicing, that’s beyond my knowledge.
I can’t advise you on that.
