One day my buddy Sean was at a PickNPull and met this guy Mikey. Mikey recognized Sean from our YouTube videos a struck up a conversation with him. Mikey was wondering if he could borrow my special rear axle tool to service his axles and asked Sean to relay the request to me. If I had a crystal ball and could have seen what a cool and generous guy Mikey was, I would have lended him my tool in a heartbeat. But, since I didn't know him and I've had bad experiences in the past lending things out to people, I told him no. But, this started out a conversation between the two of us and I learned Mikey was going to swap out his 5VZ-FE 3.4L V6 engine in his 2002 Toyota 4runner for a 2UZ-FE 4.7L V8 out of a wrecked Toyota Sequoia. I told Mikey we would love to video this project and asked if we could be a part of it. He said, YES!

Mikey has a friend named Wes who owns a Custom Hotrod Shop in Santa Clara, CA. The majority of the work took place at Wes' shop and he was also cool with us filming the project.

We owe a lot to Mikey and Wes for letting us be a part of this awesome project and we are stoked that we get to share it with all of you.

You're going to get to see some cool things you don't get to see everyday in the Automotive Mechanic World, so grab a beer, sit back, relax and Enjoy the Show!

Toy Only Swaps said they would do this conversion for around $10k.. optimum year for 4.7L would be 2005-2006 from what I researched. Just couldn’t handle the 6 months down time on the truck.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Has anyone heard of a 5.7 swap? I'd rather have that engine than the 4.7 personally if I was going to go through all that trouble to do it. The 5.7 is a damn beast. Makes almost as much torque as my 7.3 Powerstroke does!

I was wondering about this as well.
The 5.7 is a great engine, but the gas mileage is so bad.
Would be awesome to have a (supercharged?) 5.7 in one of these Tacomas though because of the power.

Hey Tony, could you pose your question on T4R.org? Here's the link to the thread I started over there: Instead of me acting as the middle man for this information, if you join T4R and ask your questions there, it would be a lot easier because Mikey is a member of T4R also and will get back to you directly. His screen name is @mikentosh.

Another option is pose your question in the comments of the V8 Swap video and I'll have Mikey answer it there so others reading through the comments will have the information as well.
