Not a drifter but on my DIY camper I installed a bed rail track along the cab bulk head in my 3rd gen (I think your 2nd gen might already have this). My camper has brackets that tie into that bed rail. You could try adding some generic topper clamps there to provided a little more downward clamping pressure on the cab-side bed rail. I'm not sure how much this would help with the forward movement but it would be a cheap thing to try before diving into fabrication.

Yes, my 2nd gen has the front rail across the bed. I do have extra clamps, but I have the QuickLee 3D printed MaxTrax mount up there. I’d have to move my MaxTrax to try that out.
    Good idea.

I went ham recently addressing GVWR concerns with my truck.

    I had previously installed:
    Aux trans cooler.
    Tundra Brakes.
    Regeared.

And the last few weeks I:
    Installed gusseted spindles.
    Yukon chromoly axle shafts.
    Rear over axle reinforcements.
    Axle truss.

Got spooked imaging spindles or axle shafts failing and losing a wheel. I feel like I went overboard but the piece of mind is nice.

Now I'm debating if I finally wanna get some bumpers. I've always wanted an ARB bumper as I love how they look, but not sure if I wanna add 200lbs up front now. I just want some protection from hitting deer.

In the rear I'm going to just get a simple bar bumper with a 2in receiver on a swing out for a bike rack.
