my old truck didn't get good gas mileage. My taco also doesn't get good gas mileage, made worse with the junk and the shed on it, but smiles have gone consistently up :D

Thanks for all the replies. Not super hung up on mileage, I've been driving low mileage high smiles trucks forever. I've never had a cap or a camper before so was curious about the change. The way I drive I won't be the one doing any time travel :)

I didn’t find it changed anything for mileage on my truck. Maybe 0.5mpg. Maybe. In city i avg 13mpg hwy 14-16mpg depending on terrain.

FWIW I gained 1mpg after taking off the bed rack+Tepui RTT and putting the Drifter on.

Yeah my Alucab and James Baroud kept the mileage the same. Oddly when I sold those for the drifter, my mileage with all the off was roughly the same. Go figure.

Ah yea, I was talking on pavement. I bet the truck would do 95-100 on a dry lake bed.

I drove mine pretty quick at Black Rock - I think it topped out at about 90 and wasn’t very fun to drive at that speed. Took awhile to get there too..

I did forget to hit the extra power button though.

I thought a little about this before taking delivery and had the idea that a sectioned piece of about 7" aluminum tube, like 6061, that had enough clearance for the top to open and somewhat capped on the ends for rigidity might look ok. I am not sure how the curve would contrast against the sharp angles of the Drifter. You could also cut it to allow for a light bar if that's your thing, or maybe rig up a solar shower if you get fancy. Problem is 7.5"x.25" for 5' is about $250 for material alone. If half a tube cut down the length could be made to work then it's a twofer.

Is there not a set of coloured logs we can get or maybe tablets to drop in the fuel tank to get us up to speed faster? It worked for the Delorian should be a simple task for the taco.

They are a front runner dealer so can order and install that for you. They can also install other customer provided awnings

Mine seems to hit it's limit on dirt at 108 (numerous attempts on playa, lake beds and Bonneville)
On the highway (closed course, professional driver of course;)) the limiter kicks in at 115

Ps: this was pre Drifter or rtt.
