Edit: I feel you, bro. Got two poi dogs we adopted from Korea. One from a kill shelter, the other from the streets found on a school yard. Wish I could take them everywhere I went.

Oh cool, I'd like to see it when complete. LT and SUA aren't that common here. I've only seen one 1st gen 5 lug with SUA.

You'll be limited on down travel SPUA and you'll be in your bed with the tires.

Do you know if it'll net less downtravel than say a stock leafpack with a 3 leaf AAL (current setup)? I was under the impression that although the uptravel is significantly increased (because that's the purpose of SUA & to reduce axle wrap), down travel numbers are still better than stock and what I currently have. In terms of the tires stuffing, I'll be sure to have bumpstops.

From a leaf spring aspect, I figured the range of motion would be more in the sweet spot of the leafs with the SUA to allow for better movement, softer absorption of bumps than the SOA. Ofcourse this is all conclusions I drew from some research but you have more experience and authority over this matter so I'll greatly appreciate if you can guide me in the right direction.

Also I plan to use a shackle flip and 14" shock mount relocation which archive garage is developing to be used under the bed without cutting through. Thanks for any info Jesse!

I guess the question should be what are you planning on doing with your truck? SUA makes room for more compression, but you say you want a shackle flip, which people normally do to gain more down travel at the expense of compression travel.

First, sorry for thread jacking Jesse. But it bumps your thread up :)

My truck is currently my DD with a monthly trip off the paved road. With that being said, we don't have any dunes to even use a LT setup, but I figured the +2" would add better handling overall and a smoother ride. For the rear, I figured that with the SUA for compression and the adjustability of a shackle flip for extension, I could maximize the use of my leafs. I don't know enough to see if that would be a problem, however I have seen A few guys with this setup who seem to have good results. There's a member on TW, "brosefff" and a few others.

If you plan on maximizing the SUA, are you planning on getting glass fenders for the rear to accomodate for the uptravel? What is your rear shock layout going to be (smoothies, doubles, triples, etc), i.e. clocking?

Maximize in the realm of keeping the bed without cutting and no glass fenders. Maybe wider flares that are trimmed. Just gonna go with smoothies but not sure what clocking is. Could you educate me on that?

You wont have to worry about clocking since you are getting smoothies. Do you plan on stuffing the rear wheels inside the fenders?

You'll get more down travel than stock, but not too much. The springs have more arch in them and that extra arch takes away from the springs travel downward. They are designed for more uptravel so the springs and shocks can absorb the bumps more when traveling fast. In order to utilize their full potential, you'll have to cut the bed or run fiberglass bed sides.

IMHO, if you never plan to hit the dunes, you'll be happy with standard springs. All-Pro has really dialed in their springs for these trucks. But I'm not here to tell you what you should or shouldn't do.
