Thinking someone here may have come up with a nice gas door lock to keep the jerks out! I do not see much option for a key and lever install, just too many shapes and structure. Maybe some kind of cable, but running it into the cab would be a hassle. Scab mounted hasp with a Master Lock?….. There’s gotta be a reasonably clean design out there somewhere. :spy:

Why bother locking the cap when your tank is 1/4" plastic and there's an anti-siphon device already in the tank?

Yea thieves drilling a hole in the tank seems to be becoming a trend lately, I've been seeing more and more reports of it happening in the past few months.

I mostly agree. I guess a lockable cap might keep them from breaking off something in the filler neck.
But the thieves here have resorted to drill the tanks now. I’d rather them siphon it than drill the tank.

You can’t siphon gas from the tank in a Tacoma, a lockable gas cap/door is useless. We’ll not completely I guess it would stop someone from putting something in your tank…

Thanks, didn’t know about the anti-siphon device in the filler. I may still try the locking Stant cap.

    They’ll just drill your tank.

It was federally mandated to keep fuel from pouring out in case of a roll-over, and I think it has been in every new vehicle sold here since the early to mid-90s. Preventing the siphoning of fuel was an added benefit.

But as mosccat mentioned above, a locking gas cap will keep people from putting something in your tank. So install one if you plan to break up with a violent girl friend...lol
